Giants @ 49ers

Post#1 » by arich35 » Thu Sep 21, 2023 8:48 pm

On Amazon Prime tonight

Aiyuk is unlikely to play, Ambry Thomas is likely to play.

This is a game we should win even with Aiyuk out. It will hurt Purdy though not having such a steady target he clearly is comfortable going to. I expect a bigger game from Kittle tonight

Without Aiyuk, we obviously need Deebo, Kittle, Jennings and Bell to step up. But I would also expect to see CMC used more in the passing game as well. So far, CMC has had a huge impact running the ball but not featured much at all as a receiver. And please use Mitchell more so we don't run CMC into the ground.

Giants will be without the starting left side of their offensive line.

Having 2 of their top lineman out, would lead you to believe that the 9ers pass rush could feast. But it sure seems like in recent seasons, most times when similar situations like that come into play SF doesn't seem to take full advantage and underwhelms in those departments.

I'm also not going to expect the Giants run game to get stuck in the mud without Saquon. We might be a Breida revenge game.

Also, always have to be concerned with mobile QB's. The 9er defense has perpetually struggled with those type of quarterbacks. LB's can't get complacent and lose contain on Jones.

Yes, I second more Mitchell please.

Hell, relative to last week any Mitchell would be "more." I read that CMC played every offensive snap last week. That certainly isn't a sustainable model, especially doing that in Week 2.

Aiyuk and Ambry Thomas officially out.

Zakelj, Kalia Davis, Jalen Graham, Davis Price all inactive.

Tre Swilling, Shemar Jean Charles, Chris Conley are the practice squad elevations. I can see a path for all three of them to actually play.

Interested to see how the defense handles Jones running. Previously we have been pretty bad with mobile QBs and QB runs, we will see if Wilks has a counter to it

With Aiyuk out, we might see Ronnie Bell catch a couple balls tonight.

Mobile QB's have been our kryptonite for several seasons now. I also worry about our tendency to play down to our opponent's level when we face teams that are much weaker on paper.
