Bad teams have to overpay. Do you want a guy or not? Clements had options. He needed a compelling reason to come here. Nolan gave it to him. It didn't kill the cap situation at all. There was flexibility enough to sign other free agents and keep Gore around for a while.
Once the team starts winning, you'll see guys restructure deals to help the cap situation. I'm willing to bet that this deal gets re-structured within three years anyhow.

I don't think he was really overpaid, at least not by enough to complain about it.
As Hopper said, it doesn't hurt our cap situation. So as I always say in situations like this:
IT'S NOT YOUR BLEEPIN MONEY!! (not aimed at the OP, just to ppl in general who gripe about contracts like it was coming out of their own pocket)
