Kawhi stepped up. He was coasting most of the game. Wish he would have kept that intensity throughout. That injury doesnt look good. I bet he misses a few games with a hip contusion.

Powell was fantastic tonight all game as well.

Yah, I was gonna do a post how Kawhi forgot how hard the NBA grind is. Whoopee, we won. Now we have to fly to OKC for a game tomorrow and then we get the Warriors on Saturday for a shtty 12:30 Crypto matinee. Can't you just wake me in time to win the Finals MVP?

The irony is that Beard is Mr. Regular Season and The Phantom of the Playoffs when the chips are down.

Maybe this can work out. :lol:

So I am looking back at the Clipper's season series history vs. Mavericks since the formation of the Leonard-George era, and everyone keeps saying Doncic owns the Clippers. Maybe by scoring as he gets a lot of career highs exclusively against them, but when you look at the season series, excluding playoffs:

2019-20: Automatic Clippers win (3 straight)*
2020-21: Mavericks win 2-1
2021-22: Series tied 2-2
2022-23: Series tied 2-2
2023-24: Clippers win 2-1

* A fourth game was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic

This Clippers-Mavericks rivalry has been more or less even, with the Clippers edging out every time. Mavericks have been determined to go 3-0 vs. them, but they can never get that sweet, juicy third win to ensure a season series victory; the most evident of this being their 2-0 lead in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

And, more importantly, if Doncic is going to own the Clippers, he has to get a superstar ejected. The only ejection Mavs have ever drawn was on Morris, a role player, in Game 6 of the 2020 NBA Playoffs, and Clippers won that series anyway. Very likely we see a third and final installment of Clippers-Mavs this year.

Now Mavs are the ones who need to fear losing three in a row. Furthermore, all of the Clipper's deep playoff runs featured Mavericks as an opponent, currently a 1st round matchup. If Clippers can draw a third strike, Mavs are out, and Doncic will request a trade.

It's crazy that Kidd just... never sat Luka. He's running Finals Game 7 rotations before Christmas.

idk, I feel like Kawhi's jumper just wasn't on tonight. He took some good shots but just missed. He's eventually going to have some 9-22 games. Not for lack of effort just the law of averages.
Same with Harden. I didn't think he took bad shots but he just missed. He hit some huge 3s in the 4th.
I thought Russ and Norm were great tonight. I know Russ airballed a 3 and had some tough misses (the scoop in the lane to end the third was tough) but he brought the energy. Norm is great in his role. I'm learning to live with his quick shots, and isos. He's earned it pretty much.
Overall solid win. Tomorrow's a much bigger test, against a healthy OKC team that can throw just as many body's at Kawhi, and has a bit more help for their main superstar SGA. Not going to say it's a measuring stick cuz the team is on the right path regardless, but it would be nice to get a win.

The Clippers should probably just sit Leonard and George tomorrow and limit Harden's minutes against OKC as well. Rest up for the matinee on Saturday at home against Boston.
