Lottery Information:
We will be using the website http://www.random.org/sform.html to generate the draft order. I will get someone who is not in the league to run it for us so there is no bias. Your lottery number will be your registration number.
Lottery results will be posted before Saturday August 1, 2010 at 12pm EST.

Offline Draft Rules:
Each manager will have 12 hours to make his/her selection.
If you do not make your pick within your 12 hour time limit, your pick is skipped and the draft will move along to the next manager, and the next and so on. When skipped, you can make your pick at any time when you check back in.

If you feel you will not be able to make your pick when your time is due to come up, please email a contingency list to HKL_Draft (at) hotmail.com, or another manager who you trust to make the selection for you.

Once you make a pick, it is final. There is no changing your pick. You are not to edit the post that you make your pick in.

You may trade draft picks at any time after the lottery. You may also include players in your offline trades prior to the start of the season without experiencing the pending period you will experience during the season.
Once the draft begins, there will be a player moratorium, wherein you cannot mention ANY players’ name that have not yet been selected.

Add/Drop/Waivers:
There will be a 2 day waiver period for dropped players.

Injured Reserve:
Each team will be able to assign 2 players to the injured reserve list at a time. Players eligible will have a red IR beside their position.

Keeper Info:
At the end of each season, each manager will choose 7 players to 'keep'. 3 of these players must be a forward ( a C, LW or RW), 1 must be a Defenseman, 1 must be a goalie, 1 player of your choosing and the final player kept can be a rookie.

::Rookie Info::
For a player to qualify as a rookie he must fit the following criteria; if a skater, that player must have played in less than 82 regular season NHL games, if a goalie, that player must have played in less than 70 regular season NHL games.

The rest will go into the free agent pool along with all rookies for the next season

At the conclusion of the season: The manager who wins the season (playoffs) gets to keep an additional player (any position) but loses their 2nd round pick.

The lottery for next year will be much like an NBA lottery, where the last place team will get the most “balls” and greater odds of getting the first pick, but no guarantee so as to prohibit tanking on purpose. There will be 4 non-playoff teams. The 2 teams with the worst records will have equal/the best odds (8 balls for example), the next 2 teams will have half of the worst 4 (4 balls for example).

There will be 14 rounds (approximately) to fill out your roster again.
I will keep track of each manager’s keeper list and will post them as we approach the draft for the next season.

All drafts will be offline.

ACTIVE MANAGERS ONLY:
The goal of keeper league’s is to make this multiple seasons, so please, only join if you want to be a serious part of this for years to come!
When posting that you want to be a manager in this league, please provide your e-mail address so that when the league is created on Yahoo I can send you an invitation – also for trade purposes.

Inactive managers will be replaced at season’s end with no hesitation.

I thought we had agreed on another category for goalies this year. The categories right now are 7-5 skater:goalie, so if we added something, (thought we decided saves) we could balance the skater:goalie categories a little better. Also, it gives more incentive to play goalies more than the minimum.

umm.. i hate to be that guy
i know i continue to be the person to cause problems and disruptions and for that i apologize
especially for the short notice..

im going away to a cottage in a day where i'll be without internet access for a week and a half.. i hate to even impose with this question but would anyone (everyone) be opposed to pushing the draft back a week? i realize its a lot to ask so i have no expectations.. i may be able to access things from my phone, i plan on being competitive this year and id hate to miss out on the draft

I emailed Royce at both of his email addresses a couple of weeks ago. No response, and one of the addresses is no longer active. Maybe police seized his hard drive, and he's wearing an orange jumpsuit somewhere. Erin would be a good replacement though.

NHL officially starts Tuesday, September 21st

with the request to push the draft day to Sunday Aug 15th, gives us 36 days to complete the draft.

Last year we started on Tue Aug 04, 2009 1:30 am and finished Wed Aug 26, 2009 - completing the whole draft in 22 days.

also with the absence of Royce (i found another email to contact him with) so give him a day or two, and if we have to replace him with Errin, then he should have a couple days to properly decided on his keepers and prepare.

so i see no reason why we cant accommodate this request to ensure that each GM can actively participate in our draft.
