He's not going to win ROY, but is clearly 3rd in that race. I have it Holmgren - Wembanyama - JJJ.

Interesting that if not for a generational prospect and a guy missing his rookie season we would have drafted ROY at 18.

Basically the same thing happened with Caron Butler and Yao.

Caron was a lottery pick though. I’m pretty sure we’ve only had like one non-lottery pick win the award in the last 30 years.

It would take every pick we have and even then our picks dont have the same gravity as other team picks. The interesting thing about supporting players is that if we are being honest, thats our strength. Every year we get some scrub basically off the street, undrafted and make him into an NBA player in our system. It's close to impossible to do that with a real star, a difference maker. Dame here and we are favorite.

I’m not sure how we keep getting back to this point. If we could pull a Milwaukee and just swap out point guards, sure we might be favored to come out of the East. Reality is based on the Miami tax that Portland wanted us to pay we’d be closer in roster construction to Phoenix than any team that is a guaranteed favorite.

Unfortunately, our own players have not done us a service to up their trade worth the last couple of years to put us ahead of the other contenders with trade bait.

Herro, is finally starting to up his trade value but still has injury concerns, and has been injured in playoffs runs whether they are just some random unexpected thing from just hustling the fact is he still gets injured. If he finishes the year with 25ppg-5-5 with good efficiency and 40%+ 3pt% That will help us be able to shop him around for a star player, specially with his age.

Duncan has turned things around but outside of this year, his contract was looked as do not come close by everyone around the league with things like you need to attach multiple picks to get rid off or at a min 1 FRP.

Lowry was looked as a bad contract from day one, after finishing his first year here. Has finally grabbed some value as an expiring here at the end, and will become far more value the closer we get to the trade deadline. However Miami seems pretty on lock on just letting him expire.

Caleb Martin is seen as a great contract and value around the league but his current string of injuries are just not helping his value at the moment. This is not his best year, and he is unable to stay healthy so far.

Nikola Jovic, has not done himself any service on upping his trade value, as he is still very much raw and just has some future potential that some team may feel he can untap.

JJJ, after the season he has had is not going anywhere any time soon, his age, and talent is extremely valuable to the Miami Heat on team building standpoint. Specially with his rookie numbers vs his production.

Our FRP's are also devalued around the league due to us always being a constant in the playoffs, and going for it with mediocre talent. We have also finally started to recuperate our first round picks after the big three trades, Goran Dragic, Jimmy Butler, etc those trades are finally getting put behind us. We still have a 2025 to OKC which is capping our ability to offer more.

Betting favorites probably not because we’re Miami and we’re hated, if you know ball we were though. We were adding Dame and losing Strus Gabe (maybe) and Lowry from last seasons playoff run. I’ll take those odds.

Strus and Gabe were already gone chasing a check. Portland wanted to receive a package to the value of Ayton, Jrue, and bunch of picks.

So who do you think we would have had to give up if PDX were willing to trade with us? I think we'd be without supporting players save for Love. Strus and Gabe don't count, they were already gone chasing a check.

Regardless of who we traded we were likely only out the players I mentioned that even played on our finals run. Yes we would’ve traded Herro and Jovic maybe others but they didn’t contribute to the playoffs last year was the point I’m getting at. You’re adding Dame to a finals team and losing Lowry Strus Gabe and Zeller that got playing time

Let’s not forget the countless vets who were waiting for Dame to come so they could sign with us.

It’s a moot point now but y’all keep bringing it up and acting like we dodged a bullet by not adding a player that likely would’ve put us over the top and was EXACTLY what we were missing in the finals last season.

Dame was and is a seamless fit here. Miami would have had a slew of Vets and peeps looking to ride coat tails to a chip if that trade went down early.

And before anybody here says but looking at JJJ and his projections is moot point, nobody here thought JJJ would be as good as he has shown, perhaps versatile and ready but not as good. Also Portland didn't show interest in him at all, It was mostly Caleb & Jovic we kept hearing reports about, which if you think about it. Neither Caleb or Jovic have done jack crap for us this year.

We could have had a Lillard, Duncan, Jimmy, Kelly Oubre, Bam with JJJ as 6th man coming off the bench alongside Josh, Kevin Love, Highsmith (Bryant doesn't get signed) with other vets joining in.

Bam falls in loves with fade away shots way too much thinking he’s the second coming of Kobe Bryant, it’s so annoying. I need bam in the paints more often just like how JJJ got his points. Herro was actually holding the team back with all his missing shots in the second half.

Caron Butler was the one who told the Heat to picked JJJ. Spo wants jovic to be the better version of himself. I have seen him played. His game isn’t exactly impactful. He could score 25 points but that 25 points doesn’t really have much valve in the term of impact compared to the other player who scored just 10 points.. My point is team could survived without his 25 points. Think of Lavine scoring 40 vs LeBron 40 points. If you looks at what both players does on the court, you could probably guess which 40 points from certain players provides best basketball value . If that makes sense.

Put us over the top? Have you been watching the Bucks? Bucks doesn’t really have a prevailing record compared to last year. Bucks seems to be in the same position as last season.
