Garland got a lot of wiggle room on that last shot.

Miami is only down the amount of shots Butler's missed in 14 attempts.

Refs have been booty all night but we havent made enough shots to compensate. Every big shot is by the Cavs.

Jimmy has clearly lost a step. Can’t even count on him for 20 anymore. This team is exactly what Jimmy said, mediocre. And it starts with Jimmy

Clearly? He's was coasting early on this season and going into this game he was averaging 22 ppg, he was just bad tonight and didn't look to enthused out there once again (which is entirely on him).

It just feels fundamental wrong to give a player a Max contract to coast for half a season. Not sure if Jimmy has lost a step, we need to reevaluate that after the Allstar break when he starts to care.

I'm with you that there shouldn't be this big of a coast mode when getting the max. My only question about it is... is there a medical reason to do this for Butler and are the Heat aware and fine with it to have a much better version of Butler at the playoffs (which didn't happen in 2021). He wasn't this way until Philly where they utilized him like he was Robert Covington until the playoffs came around.

Going a little more into it, I could see him and the Heat willing to let the rest of the team try to build towards something else until some specific date (which seems to be the all-star break) and then let Butler play as the lead and try to integrate around him.

It's only been around a half of a year since he was putting up incredible numbers before getting hurt in the playoffs, if you notice outside of him having the ball... he was very talkative, very much into the game, these... not so much which is disappointing.

He’s old.

That’s the medical reason for the coasting. Lol
