I'll update this more when it's not 1 am but:
- Bruins want to keep Iginla
- Assistant GM Benning to Vancouver
- Lucic had surgery on left wrist, unfortunately he will still likely have stone hands
- Kelly had surgery on a herniated disc in his back

Marchand for Marleau? I don't know much about Marleau but I know enough about Marchand and that I want him gone as soon as yesterday. In the 2010-2011 playoffs Marchand scored 11 goals and 8 assists in 25 games. Since then he's had 5 goals and 15 assists in 41(!!!!!!) games.

Thornton won't be re-signed. I liked the guy but unfortunately I think they could spend the money elsewhere.

Looks like Chad Johnson may be gone because Svedberg signed a one year deal. 25-15-4 record with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 45 games

Dropkick Murphys draw heat for anti-Habs display in Montreal
http://www.bruinsdaily.com/2014/08/10/d ... -montreal/

During their set, Ken Casey, the band’s lead singer, declared his Black and Gold fandom to a round of boo birds. They weren’t done, though as Ken’s son, Liam, was invited onto the set.
Liam wasn’t alone, however, as he brought a doll on stage dressed in a Canadiens uniform. That doll’s lifespan was short lived as Liam proceeded to throw the doll down on the stage – with impact – and ripped the head off, which of course resulted in more heat coming from the Montreal crowd.

Can't wait til the Canadiens get the crap beat out of them in the first game. Bruins need to really get that out of their system for once and if they do it's not going to be pretty for the Canadiens...

Krejci signed for 6 years/$43.5 million extension. That's more than Bergeron, who I think is definitely a better all around player but at least he's locked up for another 8 years total.

Meh, never been down with the Murphy's after their second album, isn't like, one guy from the original band left too? They make super poppy irish punk I can't stand. I actually hate most pumk music but that first album is amazing and really represents the BOSTON mentality way more than the stuff that followed. Sounds like they were being dicks and I can't get behind that, especially when they were in Canada.

I think the original lead singer/songwriter is a fireman somewhere in NE now lol. They should bring him back.

Bruins were $800k over the cap due to over $4.5 million in bonuses to guys like Krug, Hamilton, and Iginla and recent signings. They had a logjam on defense too. The exact reason for trading Boychuck I'm not sure of but he'd be an UFA after this season and trading him gives them more flexibility which they wouldn't have had before.

I found this a while ago though about Savard and how he can affect the cap for the Bruins:
Rather than simply place Savard on LTIR, a move that would have left them with no cap space and a new upper limit of $66,086,309, the Bruins demoted Hamilton and Krug on the final day of training camp, reducing their Averaged Club Salary from $66,086,309 to $64,275,475 — just $24,525 under the upper limit. Only then did the Bruins place Savard on LTIR, giving them a new upper limit of $68,302,618. The Bruins then recalled Hamilton and Krug and included them on their opening-day roster, bringing their Averaged Club Salary back up to $66,086,309, with the flexibility to add $2,216,309 more in Averaged Amounts, cap space that would not have existed without the one-day demotion of Hamilton and Krug.

This team and all its fans will miss Boychuk for sure. He was going to be a UFA after this season so I guess Chiarelli just pulled a Danny Ainge, getting two 2nd round picks to a player he possibly wasn't going to resign. I forgot we have that Kevan Miller guy, he and Boychuk plays a similar game.

I love Kevan Miller. He beat the crap out of Travis Moen and Zack Smith. Not a real big fan of Bartkowski though.

They'll also have Seidenberg back too though
