I like the look of our off-season moves so far. I am a huge fan of Dom so it kind of sucks to see him retire, but it became pretty obvious during this past season that he didn't have anything left, and Ozzie had established himself as our #1 goalie. As for the lines though, I'm not even going to THINK about trying to guess what they are at this point. I look forward to seeing what our lines look like once all the dust settles and camp starts up.

Detroit News - Mats Sundin may be touring various NHL cities, but Red Wings GM Ken Holland told the Detroit News that he is not interested in signing the veteran center.

“I don’t know Mats Sundin’s travel plans, but we’re not signing Mats Sundin,” Holland told the newspaper on Wednesday.

Did you really want us to go after Sundin? I'm sure there are other areas we could use more help at.

Sundin would be a great player but he would be redundant here. I mean I don't see him signing here just for a shot at being a 2nd line C, I don't think we have any cap space as well either so how would we sign him?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not "upset" we didn't land him. We don't need him, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have loved to have him here...maybe there's still hope for a Shanny return? Nah.

DETROIT -- Red Wings coach Mike Babcock confirmed he's breaking up Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg.

Instead of playing on the same line, Datsyuk and Zetterberg will center the top two lines.

Datsyuk is likely to open training camp on a line with Hossa and Tomas Holmstrom while Zetterberg is matched with Franzen and Jiri Hudler.

So, our lines will be as follows (im guessing)

Holmstrom Datsyuk Hossa
Franzen Zetterberg Hudler
Cleary Filppula Samuelsson
Maltby Draper McCarty/Kopecky

The return of the grind line i hope (Yay!) and really 4 solid lines. I mean Filppula is our 3rd line center!?! We have size, speed and playmaking ability on the first three lines; all three!

If Goaltending holds up i see no reason we dont repeat as champs

Agreed, I think it will be Samuelsson who will be on the 2nd line

I like Hudler and think he would be good on the second line. Hes a shifty little playmaker and with good linemates and planty of Icetime i suspect he could have a real fine season.

Id much prefer him over Samuelsson to be honest

I'd actually take Filpulla over both of em. Great size, talent, and hefty new contract spells second line to me.

Filpulla is a C though. I think he would be a great 3rd line guy who matches well against 2nd or 1st line opposing C's. Either way we are deep as hell

The Kings snatched Kyle Quincey off waivers from us.

Too bad, didnt mind the kid at all. If only we had waived Lilja
