Habs want to Re-sign Souray and Markov

Post#1 » by Snayr » Wed Apr 11, 2007 1:40 am

Looks like Gainey wants to re-sign both Markov and Souray. It also appears the feeling is mutual... so that is always good.

Here's the Article if you want to take a look.

What are your thoughts and opinions on the matter?

Well both are probably Montreal's best defense men even though Souray is more of a offensive defense men, but still an important signing nonetheless.

Honestly... I wouldnt care too much if we didnt get Souray back. I really wanted Gainey to move him at the deadline, because he could have given us some nice pieces in return. Markov is someone we need to resign. If we don't resign Souray that gives us more room to sign another FA defenseman that is solid in his own end. Sure Souray can score, but his defensive coverage (which happens to be his position) is below average.

I really want both, but I think we are all agreeing that we would prefer Markov.

But to Souray's credit, he is the best offensive defencemen in the league, and that can be a valuable piece to any team
