Being from Calgary, I have seen Hamerlik play quite a bit. I really like his game, and think he is a bit underrated outside of Calgary. Good signing for sure

Selanne is either gonna retire, or stay on with the Ducks in my opinion.

Yeah I also liked the Hamrlik signing, I think he'll be taking over Sourays role since it is unlikely we re-sign Souray.

AND...

Looks like the Habs have picked up Bryan Smolinski for a year. Financial Terms were not disclosed.

According to TSN, he was given a one year 2mill dollar contract with a no trade clause. The Habs needed a center so I see this as a decent signing.

Hamrlik was a good signing, contract is kinda steep though.

I don't care much for Smolinski but he's a good vet, definitly not the big center we were looking for!

I wanted them to bring Zubrus back, and it's still possible!

Zubrus signed today with the Devils, so thats out.

I think 2 mill is too much for Smolinski.

Where do you guys think Souray will end up. I still hope he stays in Montreal, but I really doubt that will happen.

Tom Kostopoulos is officialy a habs!

231 games,25 goals and 45 assist with 249 penalty minutes

2 year contract for 900 000 a year....

I think hes here for the goon job!

Yup Kostopoulous is now a Hab. I think it was a decent signing, will give us some more grit, and size. Players who dont mind banging around out there on the ice are fine by me.

Habs sign Tom Kostopoulos to a two-year contract

Yeah Zubrus is out. But I don't mind the Smolinski signing all that much. He's only signed a one year contract, he's a good two way player, he's got the size we need at the center position, and he wins more faceoffs than he loses.

On the market this year, Hamrlik's contract isnt all that crazy.

As far as Souray goes... I just hope he ends up on a team in the West so we dont have to deal with him too often.

I really hope Souray doesn't sign with the Rangers...

Habs re-sign Plekanec to a 2 year deal

We don't know the salary that he was given, but i for one am very pleased to have Plekanec back. He is honestly one of my favorite players on our team.

Also according to the article we have re-signed Dman Mathieu Biron who played for Hamilton last year, forward Cory Urquhart (Hamilton), Marvin Degan (Hamilton), and we signed free agent dman Jamie Rivers.

Let's see how long Ryder holds out now...

Great to see Pleks resigning. I don't mind the Smolinski signing either, but 2 million is too much for him, IMO.

If Montreal is able to resign Ryder quickly, then I think this will have been a pretty solid off season. We would have only lost Souray, and Perezhogin, but that can hardly be blamed on Montreal.

I was really pissed when we kept Souray around at the deadline for this exact reason... he wouldn't be a Hab for the 07-08 season. Ah well.

I can't believe I was against trading him. For some reason, I really thought we would be able to sign Markov and Souray.

I can't remember the exact numbers, but it wasn't that bloated of a contract. I think a little over 5 million a year.

Habs re-sign Josh Gorges. Also re-sign Danis, Cote, Archer, Milroy and Locke.

I wish we could have signed Ryder for longer then one year.

I also don't really like the Briesbois signing. I was never a very big fan of his. Oh well, I guess he will help out.
