Habs making a play for Zach Parise?

Post#1 » by Morris_Shatford » Wed Jan 25, 2012 4:34 pm

Last week Pierre Gauthier was found in NJ scouting, and the word, at the time, was he was scouting the Devils opponent, however today I continue to hear Gauthier has been told to try and acquire a top line player and that no player on the roster is safe. Two sources contacted me, one last night and another an our ago, saying they are hearing the Canadiens have serious interest in Zach Parise..

I like the player for sure, but top line NJ Devil stars have been unkind to us in the past...

I am with you there;
Parise also requires a lot of bucks and years after this season.

I would rather jump into the middle of a bad contract then build one.

As much as I like Parise I really don't get why you guys would go after him, he's going to want a big contract and the Devils are probably going to want a lot in return for him. Why not just go after Nash or one of the Ducks forwards? The asking price is going to be similar and they're all already signed to reasonable longterm contracts (besides Nash).

Ya that's the thing Nolan. With the asking price similar for all the parties we've been interested in, we'd probably be best going after Ryan. Anaheim seem's anxious to move him and at least his salary is set for the forseeable future.
