Thoughts on Ottawa Trade

They got even stronger today. Getting Stillman and Commodore for the playoffs is amazing for them. They probably would have had a hard time signing Eaves anyways.

Hopefully Gainy will have a response to that in the next 2 weeks

We need to make a trade. We can't have Ryder hanging around here, and if we keep him, he's gone next season anyways.

There was nothing Gainey could do about Riberio. Everybody in Montreal wanted him gone, even though he had talent. His "slow feet" had fans calling for his head on a regular basis. I wanted to keep Ribs, but I'm glad he went somewhere where he can excel.

Who would be on your trade lists, and who are your untouchables?

Untouchables:

Komisarek
Markov
Higgins
Pleckanec

Tradeable:

Koivu (Love him, but if we were offered someone good, I could handle losing him)
Ryder
Briesbois - for anything, and I mean anything
Chipchura (would be willing to part with him with the right package)
Halak

I would also hate to lose the Kostitsyn brothers, but I wouldn't put them untouchable. The rest I would consider trading, but would have to think long and hard about it.

I think the best trading partner for us would be the Oilers. Grab Stoll or Torres, both struggling right now, and offer Ryder, Halak and some filler, and hope both Ryder and either Stoll/Torres can turn it around. I would prefer Stoll over Torres
