The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired defenseman Andrew MacDonald from the New York Islanders in a trade for two draft picks and center Matt Mangene, the Flyers announced Tuesday.

MacDonald, 27, has four goals and 24 points in 63 games this season. He's played in 295 games during parts of six seasons with the Islanders, scoring 17 goals and 89 points.

Mac has been good for us so far. Pretty smart player. Wouldn't mind bringing him back next season, but I heard rumors that the front office probably won't.

Cap issues or locker room issues hindering his return?

Not positive to be honest, but I do think it is something dealing with the salary cap.
