Well, he did almost exactly what I wanted. Not going to lie, I was wishing for him to sign for about 8/year, so we could have a bit of cash left over later. Still, hell of a bargain, considering Scott freaking Gomez will be making more than him next year.

As much as I hate to agree, I do. Malkin will probably be the guy to go.

As of right now, I just see Malkin as being the protypical Russian NHL player. Me, Me, Me. I see Jordan Staal as being a Ron Francis. Comes up big when the team needs it and is the player that wins you cups.

I think this is the season to know if Therrien will be the coach of the Pens in the future. If they lose in the 1st round, he's gone. Possibly 2nd round as well. 3rd or Finals, he'll get a longer contract extension.

I think that it really depends on which way they lose out in the playoffs. Management is smart enough to not blame it all on him.

Per TSN:

Per TSN:
Assets
Moves the puck well out of the defensive zone and owns decent offensive instincts. Doesn't shy away from the rough going.
Flaws
Needs to work on taking the body consistently and must add more strength in order to compete against bigger NHL forwards.
Career potential
Reserve defenseman

Lol. He had that great playoff run for the Oilers a few years back, didn't he? Anyway, he's an AHL goalie. Sabourin will be the backup to MAF this season. Conklin is going to be the veteran guy for David Brown, who will more than likely be the starter at Wilkes-Barre.
