Volpe's had like one good game since they made him leadoff hitter. I think they moved him up there too soon.

Yeah this isn't good. I wanted Volpe-Soto-Judge but it's not working.

I feel like our collective plate discipline just isn't where it was like two weeks back.

I think once the Yankees stopped having homerun hitters up and down the lineup a few years ago it really began to expose how much of a one trick pony Cashman was at building an offense. If you have difficulty winning games through basic fundamentals, like dropping down a bunt or working the count, then your offense is going to look like what it did today.

The problem wasnt that they lacked fundamentals. The problem was they just lacked hitting. It is pointless to talk about fundamentals when your lineup is filled with 4-5 .200 hitters.

Why was Trevino, who can't hit his way out of a paper bag, not trying to advance the leadoff runner in the 8th inning by bunting? Why is Gleyber swinging out of his shoes in each of his at bats instead of looking for the base hit? Why is Judge chasing every pitch out of the strike zone instead of working the count like he's done his entire career? The reason why most of our hitters are batting .200 is because they refuse to do those fundamental things and are going by what Cashman and his team are coaching them to do, which is to hit 430 ft bombs. Even a guy like Soto, who is known for his plate discipline and offensive prowess, is starting to regress a bit because he is becoming a victim of this horrible hitting culture that has plagued the team for years.

The players just suck. You can't really find any players that ended up better after they left the Yankees. Your assumption is that those players were capable of playing fundamental baseball ans making good contacts. They can't.

Ump is calling a wide stroke zone away from right handed batters. Judge is gonna go 0-fer tonight.

 Yeah. Thank goodness the Yankees saved on avoiding the tax by adding length to his contract. $15 million a year for this and two more years clogging up Hal's precious salary cap.

That first inning was looking so good. Cortes breezed through the top, then Yanks loaded the bases with no one out. Then Stanton struck out and Rizzo grounded into a double play.

Two innings later, Cortes gives up two homers and Yankees are down 3-1.

Cannot believe Yankees lost this game and didn't pick up this series.
