The alternatives are Durant, George or Kawhi and slide OG at 4

The team, when healthy, has a good bench.

Deuce, Bogs, Mitch, Precious, Hart + rookie(s)

We lack anyone who can score or playmake off the dribble in that 2nd unit. It can't continue IMO for Julius Randle, our power forward to be our 2nd best ball handler and playmaker on the team. It don't gotta be IQ but you gotta replace what he could do. If you feel it should be more weighted to playmaking than scoring fine, but we have neither.

And I see what Deuce is doing. But still it's more like he's a 6'1 SG who plays off ball. You know that phrase with the negative connotation. " he needs the ball in his hand to be effective"? Well we need someone who needs the ball in his hands to be effective.

If we propose that, Phoneix laughs. You know that, right?

Or they ask for 7 first round picks.

Here's an idea that might only cost 4 first round picks. :-) hehe, hoho.

A 30 year old Randle vs a 36 year old KD aren’t as far as you’re implying in value… you make up the difference with some pick compensation especially if KD demands out again.

I was all for going after Ingram a couple of months ago. But from what I see now, defense still wins you any game you really want even in today’s NBA, so I’m saying bye bye to that pipe dream.

This season was EXTREMELY taxing on our lineup. There is no doubt Thibs rides them hard.

Now get a star like Giannis, Mitchell or Bridges on the team and lengthen the lineup.

Bog+deuce+picks for Bridges
Re-sign IHart & Precious
Let Burks and Sims walk.
OG is returning no matter what we think
Bring over Rokas to run the defense when Brunson is sitting.

IHart/Mitch
Randle/Precious
OG/Hart
Bridges/DDV
Brunson/Rokas

Dedicate the whole season to revenge

Trade all the draft picks in this year's draft plus matching salary (Sims?) for Tari Eason.

Someone's got to cover the 40 games in the regular season and 5 playoff games that OG is going to miss

Mitchell, Giannis, Bridges ALL fit the young enough, durable enough, and rugged enough mentality to thrive in a Thibs system. Not everyone wants to play in this environment.

The only one that probably needs Randle included to make the trade is trading for Giannis. The others can probably be done without Randle (but obviously more picks involved).

With Mitchell and Bridges the contract is also lower which would make the cap maneuvering a bit easier too.

Randle going down was a chain reaction that in turn forced many others to carry a higher minutes load and scoring burden. Say what you want about him but he has been a workhorse in this offense. Losing him caused many more to be expended at a higher level. And now we are seeing the effects as multiple guys are breaking down.

They will say no but it's not like we're giving up nothing here. Randle is still a 2x All-NBA and Bogs has been a 20+ scorer throughout his career. We should look at what Suns gave up for KD and start from there. He is 1 year older and the Suns are looking at an offseason where they need to find ring chasers. Last offseason, the Suns attracted ring chasers but not this offseason.

The problem, as I see it, if the Suns want to try to win, they keep KD. If they want to rebuild, they'll want picks. There's no real way to make that swap without a lot of picks, even if KD is 5 years older.

Unless they work out a 3 way with a 3rd team that wants Randle, or a 3rd team that wants Bogs for his expiring, then I don't see Phoenix saying yes unless they get a ton of picks. Also, rumors are that they don't want to trade him, but want to give their core one more go.

As a KNicks fan, while I love KD, I worry about what this does for our toughness and age. KD would be great, but losing Randle would hurt. I have a hard time seeing that swap happening.

Say what you want, I’m still approving a KAT trade.

Does Minnesota? Does KAT force a trade?

- - -

I don't know what's going to happen but I'm leaning towards them keeping Randle, though I'd trade him in the right move.

I'm afraid that with teams tanking, the picks have less value than they used to - well, some do.

So the Knicks are either going to have to take on salary, which is fine for the right player, or get a disgruntled player who wants out and the team complies. I have no idea who that player's going to be. But Bogs will probably be the centerpiece of that swap.

Maybe they trade Joku? Precious, Sims, and the d-leagers can be added for salary. I think they'd like to keep Precious but for the right trade, they'd move him in a heartbeat.

The 24/25 picks could be moved too, but I think they want to draft some players this draft for their youth.

long story short - I think we're either getting a salary a team wants to move on from or a disgruntled player who wants a trade. I think they'll give up some picks, but not a ton of them. But, time will tell.

It's not about who we want so much as who other teams are willing to part with and pick the best of those.
Now it's all about the off-season for my Knicks. (and rooting for Boston to crush Indiana).

He rode them because the bench after the OG trade has been an inconsistent at best. Injuries didn't help to cerement consistency. I'm absolutely not blaming Randle, but his injury created such a ripple effect. A bench of Josh, Deuce, Mitch, and maybe another guard (or Bogs) is going do wonders for their starting unit. The one thing I can say about Josh's experience as a starter is probably having him as the primary ball handler for the bench, so Deuce isn't pressured to playing as a PG.
