I can't wait to see Depoitre in a Porto uniform.
Is there any fuzz around the transfer in Portugal?

What do you mean fuzz?

He's already appeared in Porto's first match against Rio Ave as a late sub for André Silva

Inter announced that they officially signed João Mário. Boa sorte leonino.

mercgold, estás pronto para domingo? ;)

Sure, is always tough to play in Alvalade no matter how good we are or not in this last 10 years. I want to win, but not losing isn't bad either.

Let's see how Sporting is going to replace João Mario and Slimani as well (he's probably out after this game)

What you think about the Slimani situacion for this game, you think he should play ?

I think so. Slimani has been a beast for us, such a work horse who's really risen himself over the last couple seasons. Fans realize that and appreciate that. I'd like to see him play one final game at Alvalade in front of the home fans if he is indeed being sold. Like JM did a couple weeks ago. I hate to see Slimani go, I'd still love for him to stay at Sporting and be that staple up front like Liedson was for so long. Gonna be a tough player to replace, but Sporting has made a splash in transfer with forwards lately. André from Brazil (who I have low expectations for) and there seems to be traction on bringing in Bas Dost from Wolfsburg. Who if, was played together with Slimani I think would make Sporting serious contenders. But should do well as Slim's replacement in our league IMO. Alan Ruiz, Joel Campbell should be able to fit in as that secondary striker next to him. Bryan Ruiz can fall back to a more natural position of creator. I think Gelson Martins is ready to fill in for JM. Not of the same quality, but his pace and ball handling on the wing will fit in nicely. I love João Mário, our best player last season IMO, but Sporting's depth on the wings make selling him easier to swallow. Especially at that price point. Gotta maximize profits on these guys.

Btw, Sporting bought Slimani for €300,000 a couple of years ago. Selling him for €30,000,000 ? Wow.
One of the best deals ever.

100 times profit. Hard to argue. Between the João Mário sale and this Slimani sale they should be able to replenish. It's what I was saying to people every time people would say BDC is being an idiot with the handling of his guys. He's either going to get the huge bucks he's after or hold on to them and push hard for the league title. It has to take an offer you can't refuse to veer from that, and that's just what's happened here.

Benfica barely gets out of their game with Nacional today. What a hilarious goal from Jiménez in extra time. Always early at this point in time but they've looked beatable so far. Though, they started out fairly slow last season too, and we all know how that finished off.

Can Slimani play the no.10 role or is he an out and out attacker?

I find it impossible to believe anything that Indykala writes and AB has spouted rubbish this summer. I'll wait till I see him holding up a Leicester shirt before I believe it. Hoping it'll perk Mahrez up if he does sign.

He's definitely the typical number 9, i don't see Slimani and Vardy playing together up front with great sucess tbh.

i don't see the logic of combine this two.

Maybe he's not coming to us at all.

If he does I thought we'd see him playing alongside Vardy, using his head for knockdowns. an upgrade on Ulloa and I was hoping he could replace Okazaki.

If he's only a striker I think maybe it's just agent talk as we already have Vardy, Musa and Ulloa for that lone striker role.

I heard that the chairman of Leicester was at Alvalade today, speculation that he was there to watch the game and then finalize the Slimani deal afterward.

Islam Slimani was shown in tears at the end of the game, putting two and two together I'd assume he's off to Leicester

Latest I heard too was it might be for 40 m€ :|

Rúben Semedo was solid again for Sporting today. Man of the match, really contained André Silva. Future defence vs Future offence

I have a hard time believing Slimani will live up to that sum. Incredible dumb idea to buy a 28 y/o who hasn't even once played in one of the major European leagues for 30 mil. €.

Good for Sporting, though.

Sporting seems to have smart business men anyway. Heard they are gonna buy Eintracht flop Luc Castaignos for 2.5 mil. €. I give him 2-3 years until he scores 20 in Portuguese league and they sell him for 30 mil. € as well.

It's a lot of money, I didn't think anyone would actually pay that much for him, mainly due to age. He's a capable player, and a work horse.

What can you tell me about Adrien Silva?

Reports say that we're in for him as well. Perhaps we're funding your Bas Dost signing.

Passion, hard work and dedication are the first things that come to mind when thinking about Adrien. He'll run his mouth sometimes and pick up some silly carvings, but the man leaves it all on the pitch every game. Motor like no tomorrow. He can shut down the best of them in the midfield, and while he's no maestro creator or anything he makes good decisions with the ball and is a decent finisher. Good at converting penalties. He'll be a fan favourite. Another one I'm gutted to see go, but again, I've heard 25 M€, who's to argue

This thread is so inactive lol but had to find you today. Very entertaining game. It hasn't been our season but that Casilla's save man... that's the final knife in our season. I'm rooting for you guys, don't let Benfica get the tetra, please.
