Fantastic game by Portugal. Great 1-2s and beautiful floing football. There were quite a number of broken passes here and there but overall the organized play and finishing were brilliant. Ronaldo could have scored easily with a bit of luck and they looked suprisingly organized in defense too.

PS: Bosingwa is good as advertised.

Fact is he had only a decent game and was still aguably the most influential offensive player on either side, had his feet in basically every chance by Portugal.
Him being captain after Gomes is a pretty strong statement by Mourinho, the reaction after the 2:0 when they all including the goal scorer and assist guy Moutinho rushed to him speaks volume about his popularity in the squad. He isn

Never doubt a defender's quality coming from FCPorto. Sporting Lisbon creates huge talents on the offensive end (Ronaldo, Nani, Moutinho and many others in the past), Porto is known for creating defensive ones. The starting 4 on defense: Bosingwa, Pepe, R.Carvalho and P.Ferreira all came from Porto. And Bruno Alves (on the bench) is also from Porto. :D

you could have guessed that it was an honest mistake and spared yourself some typing ;)

yeah, Moutinho was great as well. Even seems a bit "understated" next to Deco and the strong wingplayers, could easily play an even more offensive role. But since it

Just got back from the public viewing event. Everybody was groaning at the Alex Frei injury, Swiss, Czech and neutral fans. CZE was flat out lucky. Also, I think the whole Turkish population came out for the TUR-POR game, and I have never seen Turkish ppl so quiet after a loss. :-? But POR was very impressive :D

That was a great game to watch. I was very impressed with Portugal, everyone was solid, great passes, great movements, and truly deserved the win.

Also, Turkey had a good game, the guy that stood out for me was the big CB who completely outplayed whoever was in the middle, Nuno Gomes, Ronaldo, and everyone else.

well scolari is a great coach. portugal is a very solid team, they look organizaed and well structured.

turkey did play bad. they never pushed the ball or preassured portugal. they had some "good" moments, but they lack a player that with a play could change the course of the game.

Switzerland were very impressive and they were incredibly unlucky not to get a goal. Frei was having a superb game until he went down. I still expect Switzerland to go through though. Beating Turkey and pulling out a draw with Portugal.

Portugal looked very good too, especially against a surprisingly mediocre Turkey. Turkey does not have very much team chemistry at all and I don't see them advancing.

All in all I would give todays games a 6.5/10 for entertainment value. The real goals are going to come tomorrow!

winner of the 1st game can clinch a spot....I see a draw and a Turkish win.

i also think portugal will draw and turkey getting the win. switzerland without frei have less chances to make an impact in this tournament, but who knows maybe their heart will get them to the next round.

Nice game by both Ronaldo and Deco, each scoring one and setting up teammate for another.
