What does Haaland with that current roster?^^
What about now with Barcelona's head coach? Is he gone?

They're in need of infusion of talent?

Especially if and when Messi leaves.

They have the money though several clubs may be bidding.

No way they risk not being in CL next season.

An infusion of talent?

What hope does any other team in the world have if you are claiming Barcelona don't have talent?

Honestly, I think the best thing that can happen to them is Messi leaving.
In hindsight, he should've been sold last summer.

They need a fresh start.

Messi leaving should loosen about a quarter of their budget lol.

Fati and de Jong are the two interesting young players Barca has.
De Jong to Bayern would be the equivalent of a company selling the profitable part of their business to pay off debts assembled with unprofitable business parts.

Barca are reeling. These revelations of Messi's contract don't help, as well as the reported $1 billion debt the club has.

And they're way behind in the table.

And Messi may walk in the summer anyways.

Reports of Barcelona's death have been greatly exaggerated.

I actually think they are set up for a Renaissance. Laporta is back, and it sounds like they have made pre-arrangements with nearly every significant free agent this summer. If they can hold onto Messi, they might make a clean sweep of world-class additions in the offseason without spending a dime other than their wage bill. Imagine a depth chart as follows (incoming free transfers in bold):

ST: AGUERO / Fati
LW: Griezmann / Dembele
RW: Messi / Trincao

LAM: De Jong / Pedri
RAM: Pjanic / Puig
CDM: Busquets / WIJNALDUM

LB: Alba / BERNAT
LCB: Pique / Lenglet
RCB: ALABA / Umtiti
RB: Roberto / Emerson

GK: MAtS / Neto

I see a bright future for Barça.

Good read about their current problems.

https://www.si.com/soccer/2021/03/10/barcelona-crisis-messi-laporta-future-champions-league-daily-cover

They bring in a lot of money but without fans, their bad moves have made the situation worse.

Telling that Messi doesn't even play the defense that he used to.

Not like it is news. I think Messi hasn't played defense in 5 years now.
The rest of Barca's team is not good enough to cover defending with a guy less against the very elite teams.

If exiting in the last 16 isn't a warning sign I don't know what is.

unacceptable for a team that believes its top 2 or 4in the world. Bit like Manchester United.

Isn't Messi a little old to have his daddy make big career and life decisions for him?

Surprising that he hasn't moved his family over to Europe already.

Don't all sport's stars have agents? I'd imagine that Brady has one too. Messi's father is his agent.

Messi's numbers are still great but I feel like it is time for Barca to move on.

They have been irrelevant in the CL for quite a while now. Should try to build a new team around Fati.

So Kun, Wijnaldum, Alaba, Bernat are gonna be sure FA signings? I'd be very happy with someone like Alaba. Kun could help Messi staying but.. It's a big question mark and lots of it is gonna get filled in this summer...

Even all those signings (I doubt those are all completed tbh) wouldn't make Barca competitive for the UCL title.

And Alaba is a LCB, not RCB.
