Sadly that was always likely

Nice to see Everton not learning from their past mistakes lol, they are using pretty much all the Gordon money on Gallagher

João Cancelo to Bayern with a 70M buy option.

Talks of Johnny Felix heading to Barcelona.

Round 2 of Rui Costa spelling out NO in hundreds of different intonations for Chelsea, on account of Enzo Fernández, is also underway.

Really surprised by Cancelo to Bayern. That's a big loss for City.

They are a truly useless club.

I feel for Everton fans, they're so poorly run.

Apparently he had a nasty dust up with Guardiola when informed he was being benched. Cancelo asked out. Iberians.

Isco signing with Union Berlin.

Never thought I would read this story one day.

I really do think they mirror Villa in our relegation season, it’s actually pretty scary how similar the situations are.

Previous years spent in the top half trying to push on but spending a lot on players with little to no resale value, having a good coach who leaves before the season starts, a coach that’s out of his depth but is coasting (Lampard and Sherwood) and then eventually the fans turning on the players/staff.

^^Isco being released 6 months into a contract was a bigger shocker.
^^^2 years ago I really wished Madrid would spend their whole summer budget on Bernardo and Cancelo. The Portuguese guys and Gundogan always gave these pragmatic interviews about Pep unlike some of the younger players that have worked under him. It's also not that surprising because the youth systems of countries like Portugal, Germany, France develop well rounded footballers so it's harder to get them to drink kool-aid. Pep is still on a pedestal in Europe. Any other coach would have been sacked from City 3 years ago for failing to win the CL so regularly. Pellegrini and Mancini won domestic titles at a comparable level of regularity so I don't see what special value over par he has delivered for the club outside of recruiting.

The timing is surprising because Cancelo will be cuptied out of the CL too.

How soon will all these recent transfers be able to play for their new clubs?

As far as these mid-tier clubs hitting their ceiling and falling out, maybe relegated rather than breaking into the top 4, it seems like Fulham is having a good season so far. They may not reach the top 4 but maybe they finish in the upper half, though with Liverpool and Chelsea right behind them, it's probably unlikely that they will hold onto their current #7 position.

What is the highest that a newly-promoted team has placed in the PL?

Pedro Porro signing for Spurs, but we loaned out Spence and Doherty. Bizarrely, Atletico Madrid wanted Doherty.

Not sure what Simeone is thinking with that one.

In other news, these all look to be done:

Sabitzer to United
Cancelo to Bayern
Jorginho to Arsenal
Keylor Navas to Forest
Ziyech to PSG
Souttar to Leicester

Among other rumblings.

I’m so happy Villa are going to do their bigger splurges in the summer, most fans are panicking because we technically have one striker that’s proven in the prem. However I’m done with the days of us spending money on a player to fill a void rather than spend to improve the team. Plus Jan is a **** month to buy players in cause you generally pay above the players market value.

Atleti doesn't have any natural fullbacks since Trips was sold. Everyone there is a converted cm, winger, or cb. And they are apparently losing the winger (Carrasco) to Barca, which is a big loss because he's their fastest player.

When is the official end of the January transfer window, midnight in the UK or in Europe?

So that would be midnight in Germany, France, Spain, Italy.

Nah other leagues have different rules, for example in Italy their transfer window closed a few hours ago. It’s not a Europe wide set time or date, but they all open/close around the same time.
