Transfer Thread 2021/22

Post#1 » by Baphomet » Sun May 23, 2021 5:43 pm

The offseason and transfer window is rapidly approaching, and with it transfer madness. Discuss transfers here.

Could be some big transfers happening this summer, despite Covid contracting the market somewhat with teams looking for bargains.

Big transfers for the CL teams. If Kane leaves then Spurs need to make the right decisions with the cash, Arsenal need to spend to get out of the spiral. Leicester will not be able to make the purchases that they were hoping for only a couple of weeks ago.

My hopes for Liverpool's transfer window;

Wijnaldum and Kabak (and Adrian...) is leaving. Wijnaldum is a loss. Very solid player. Kabak had a few decent games, but overall not impressed by him. Tough situation for him to come in january and suddenly be a key-player for Liverpool. Adrian is just a bad keeper at this level, and Kelleher is the clear nr. 2.

I feel like we have alot of players who don't make any difference. So an ideal window would mean selling 8-10 players.

Out;
Keita (can't stay healthy); 30m €
Matip (can't stay healthy); 20m €
Chamberlain; 20m €
Shaqiri; 15m €
Origi; 10m €
Harry Wilson; 15m €
Grujic; 15m €
Minamino; 10m €
Ojo, Awoniyi, Woodburn; 10m €

I'm still on the fence with Firmino. I don't believe he is good enough to be a starter anymore. But having him as a rotational piece would be great. With the players listed above - a dream window would bring in ~130-150m €. More realistic would be a sale of 4-5 players and 60-70m € in.

Leaves the squad as;
Alisson, Kelleher

Trent, Neco
Virgil, Gomez, Nat Phillips, Ben Davies
Robbo, Tsimikas

Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson, Curtis, Milner

Salah, Mane, Jota, Firmino

Would mean 5-6 new players in. First a new CB. Rumours are saying Konate. I'm not that high on him due to his injury history. But i'd take him. Free-buy clause is ~40m €. Next would be a midfielder. Give me Bissouma here. A typical Klopp signing. ~40m €. A realistic dream-signing would be Goncalves from Sporting - should cost ~60m € as his current free-buy clause. Finally a striker(!) would do it. Someone like Patson Daka maybe. Seems like he can score goals - something we need with Firmino. 30m €.

Konate; 40m €
Bissouma; 40m €
Goncalves; 60m €
Daka; 30m €
170m € in total. Harvey Elliott also coming back - but i think he'll be sent out on loan for one more season.

Alisson (Kelleher)
Trent (Neco, Gomez, Milner) - Virgil (Phillips, Davies) - Konate (Gomez) - Robbo (Tsimikas, Milner)
Fabinho (Bissouma, Thiago, Henderson)
Thiago (Henderson, Milner), Goncalves (Bissouma, Firmino, Curtis)
Salah (Jota, Goncalves, Mane) - Jota (Daka, Firmino) - Mane (Jota, Goncalves)

apparently Kane wants to go to Man city but they're only offering £65m (I remember this well from the Mahrez days). However Man U have stepped in with an offer of £110m. I think that'll seal it. Now the question is whether Spurs will re-invest it wisely or waste it. Their future depends on these decisions.

So if we believe rumours Man Utd is getting Kane, Sancho and Ronaldo :D.
Seems like classic Man Utd rumours.

That is another way to look at it.

Meanwhile Arsenal seem to be after half of Europe.

A lot of it is lazy clickbait journalism. Man United and Arsenal have large followings so articles linking them to every player under the sun are likely to generate clicks and ad revenue.

Fabrizio Romano is about the only transfer guy that I trust. David Ornstein is reliable for London clubs as well.

This will indeed be an exciting transfer window. Although Manchester City look truly dominant in domestic and European competition, a bunch of teams have to feel like they're only a significant player away from elite status.

Post- (mid-?) pandemic war chests will be lower, but the real market force is the number and caliber of free agents. Some teams will feel that they can get more bang for their buck by signing an older established star, and in the short term, they're probably right.

Barca getting Aguero, Garcia, Wijnaldum and possibly Depay for free is great, smart business.
And also really necessary.

It is good but is it good enough to get these freebies when you are supposed to be a top 3 team in the world?

Konaté from Leipzig to Liverpool, 35M pounds.
Cheap.

That's what happens when you have CL football I guess.

Apparently, that was his release clause.
Weird no other clubs jumped on that.

CL will doubtless boost Liverpool's business, but interestingly this one was agreed long before Liverpool had secured CL football. It's a good deal, for sure.

Maignan signed with AC Milan. Probably means that Donnarumma is leaving, you'd have to think that a lot of teams would be interested in signing him.

Because Upamecano is the good one and Konate is not all that great.

It's a free transfer, correct?
Could be Juve then no?

Modric extends for another year. He's still effective, but I figured he'd leave for Italy.

He can play for another four or five years and will still look more agile than 31 y/o version of Toni Kroos these days.

Are they unhappy with Szczęsny?
