Mayo was all hype..Zero substance...He's Felipe Lopez all over again..Mayo is not a lottery type talent...Look at his last game vs a slow Stanford backcourt...5-19 FG's with zero assists and 5 turnovers..That's about a normal game for Mayo this season...He's the laziest gaurd Ive ever seen at the NCAA level.

I prefer to draft on need unless all starting positions (taking into consideration players that compliment each other, salary, contracts and ages) are solid then I'd obviously go BPA so my top 5 would depend on who is drafting where.

i agree that Mayo was hyped up too much, but that ISN'T a normal game for him

I do also think you need to take into account team needs when drafting. Based on current records:

1. Minnesota - Beasley
2. Miami - Rose
3. New York - Jordon
4. Seattle - Mayo
5. Memphis - Greene

Alternatively, I can see Minny drafting Jordon with Beasley falling to the NYK

If you are taking "need/fit" into account then Beasley for the wolves is a horrible fit. Unless you are convinced he can play and defend at the 3 spot in the NBA. Al Jefferson is our cornerstone 4 and he is not near the same player as a 5.

Jordon is the darkhorse, but I could see him. Otherwise Mayo/Rose depending on what Foye does coming back.

I agree - that's why I think you may go with Jordan. However, Al played effectively at Center quite a bit during both games against the Wizards and a Beasley/Jefferson combination may work nicely in the post.

Idk rev....im starting to think beasley just might be able to play the 3 the dude is a beast on offense. But after beasley i want mayo or rose we just gotta see how foye does coming back.

the 2 Wizards games were quintessential examples of why Al should never play center ever again. Haywood completely shut him down both games and also got a bunch of easy putbacks on offense because Jefferson struggles defending the 5.

 I like that post, but...

Everyone (I think) agrees Thabby is a dominant defender. But he's also been an extremely efficient scorer - with a 1.82 PPS. He's got a long ways to go, but he's improved quite a lot and should continue to. I don't see how people go with Mayo over him. The Thabster has potential that just doesn't come along that often. Mayo can be a good player, but the hype far exceeds his game, and there are at least 3 guards in this draft that I'd take over him.

the only guard i would consider to take over mayo is Rose...what other guards would you take over him?

As devil said, Al is not a center prospect. We need him at the 4. That being said, I dont care if Beasley can score at the 3. The world record holder for FT's is an old white guy. Beasley has not shown the desire to defend or make his teammates better on offense. As a 3 I think he would be torn apart. The kid is just a red flag for me.
