After we got up early, we allowed an 8-0 (9-2?) run for an early slight deficit but came back to make it close.

Late in that Q Zach was super late on the help D, but before that they screened and got a way to easy drive down the middle of our paint for the dunk.

Perimeter defending, angling out of the paint rather than allowing drives in it, is primary.

Good shooting by us overall, just have to stop putting them to the FT line (8-8 already).

Close efficient game considering two starters - Branham and KJ - have combined for 0 points. Branham is 0-1; KJ, no shots yet!

We have to involve our best guys more. Get more physical. Limit TOs and runs. Take paint points away. Stay with it.

We were down 5, now up 2, nice 7-point swing by us.

Sloppy couple of possessions on O. KJ too high an alley oop to Bassey; Sochan wonky off glass miss on drive; and I think Bassey another miss at the rim.

We MUST take advantage of this lull in their O. PUS AT THEM, SPURS!

Nice Julian pass to Branham for the in-rhythm 3. Net barely moved. We had options, too, with Sochan wide open on the weak side as well. Keep up the finding of the open team mates. Good to great.

AGAIN they got into the middle of our paint for a bucket. Sochan was there but DID NOT GET A HAND UP ON THE SHOT.

Branham coming around well. When he gets space, he's very twitchy and smooth and streaky.

Stop settling for the 3s. Yes it's about energy preservation but don't get lulled into these shots. Get at them for fouls and FTs.

On the other end, we are a step behind and chasing them on their cuts to our rim. Have to get more aware and respond faster.

2ND Q: SPURS 61 PELICANS 63

Some good things like efficient shooting including 8-16 from 3 and better rebounding, 23-17 and 6-4 on O but too many points in our paint and fouls against, putting them to the FT line for 18-19 to our 11-14.

Only 7TOs which is solid, but we also have to make sure our shot distribution and selection are better. Like KJ is only 1-2 at the half! Good that Branham woke up for 3-6, 1-2 from 3.

Bench has 28 points. Good.

On D, we MUST do better to angle them AWAY from our paint not down the middle, have to get help D to step up sooner, take away passing space, and make sure we run back in transition. No back door cuts on D.

Keep it moving on O, and make sure we pass to the open guy not just get lured into the shot given or the shot to stand out. Get more FTs, work the clock better, play bigger. Create good to great. GOOD TO GREAT. On both ends.
