Are there any Canadian high school players coming up in the ranks that have NBA potential?

So... We've won our group. Congrats die hard Canada fans.

Fun note - because we won all of these games by 20+ points, we've got the max points possible for these wins. Any wins we get from here on in are worth even more points for our ranking (they increase per round). Even more fun facts, World Cup wins are worth the most of any tourney, wins are worth EVEN more when you beat a team with a better ranking (shout out France and promising considering we play Spain/Brazil next).

I'd say this is the weakest Canada HS basketball has been in 15 years...

Wouldn''t expect anyone from 2024, 2025 or 2026 to b drafted

The class of 2025 is pretty strong with Efeosa Oliogu, Will Riley and Spencer Ahrens.
Oliogu will be with Overtime Elite this upcoming season. Riley is at The Phelps School in Pennsylvania (near Philly) and Ahrens is moving down south to play at Sunrise Christian in Kansas. Ahrens played at Pedsdmd Elite (St. Martin School in Mississauga) last season in the OSBA and had a 53 point game vs Inspire Academy.

However, the class of 2027 is loaded at the top with Kymani Walters and Paul Osaruyi. Also add in Rasheed Morrison.
Walters is moving down to Florida to play at DME Academy this season and Osaruyi is at Dream City Christian in Arizona. Osaruyi was Canada's best player at the U16 FIBA Americas back in June.

If I had to rank the classes it would be:

2027/2025 > 2026 > 2024

I consistently see Efeosa Oliogu and Will Riley ranked as top 20 guys in their class (2025).

2005 and 2007 birth years seem weaker (though it's still early for 2007). 2006 is actually quite good. Never can say for sure who's gonna end up in the NBA (Simi Shittu) or succeed (Anthony Bennett). But there's some talent there and more than one guy who might make it. 2008 also looking interesting.

All of a sudden the Bahamas are becoming a force.

If they get all the rumoured players - heck even two - Evan Mobley and Klay along with who they currently have m, their starting 5 is a threat.

Brazil it is. Ivory Coast contended until the end. Yago Santos picked up an injury and left the game but came back wobbly. He's one of their best players so if he isn't fit then that would theoretically make things easier for Canada.

Will be interesting if FIBA decides to allow another former TEAM USAer who played at a senior world cup in Klay. Countries were already blowing their top at the Eric Gordon addition so FIBA will tread lightly here, i think. FIBA does make exceptions for developing basketball nations so they could continue to do that here, time will tell.

Evan Mobley seems like a decent bet to be part of the USA group 2028 LA Olympics so its probably unlikely he ties himself to Bahamas next summer. Naz reid and Isaiah Mobley would be pretty good additions. They do need to find another guard tho, were relying too much on Eric Gordon for creation.

Good to hear. Our world ranking seems headed for big post-world cup jump, especially if we make a semis run beating teams like France, Brazil, Spain and one of Australia/Germany/Slovenia on the way.

Yeah, I would be very curious to see the movement of teams once the next rankings come into play. I could see Canada popping into the Top 10 if it were to make the Semis.

Teams like Argentina who are getting a pretty big bump from their World Cup finish will see those points decay and France will probably give up a spot or two.

Seeing this much Canadian talent is very exciting.. But at the same I'm getting real jealous. When can we recruit them back home?

No Asian or African teams into the second round. Same as in 2019 (the first World Cup with this format).
