Siakam trade for basically nothing is now showing its effect
Siakam a 2-time All-NBA and 2-time All-Star player, was traded by Raptors in his prime for basically nothing.
Pacers has this whole bunch of good young players (4-7) and they did not give us even a single player from that bunch. Even if any player of that bunch cannot play much for Pacers just because of the damn competition, Pacers still refused to give him to us.
They continue the same treatment in case of draft picks. They give us picks in a draft which is consider to have inferior talent and even there, they give us low picks instead of high picks.
The effect of this trade was not felt much initially, because Barnes continued his stellar play of this season. But now Barnes is injured and cannot play and most likely out for the season. And now we are seeing the full effects of the Siakam trade. That trade made us bad in present and also does not improve our future. Other teams would have traded a player of Siakam caliber to either improve their present or future. We on the other hand strike out in both cases.
This trade may even put seeds of doubt in Barnes mind. He may be thinking is this organization willing to build to compete for a championship? OR they want to build a team whose ceiling is to make playoffs? Are they counting again to get lucky and find gems in later parts of draft? Do they want to draft another superstar? Or are they counting again that a disgruntled superstar will be traded to them?

Pacers fan - Siakam trade for Brown and 3 picks has shown nothing in the effect. 11-11, .500 ball with Pacers playing worse than before the Siakam trade

Not paying him the max is also a pretty good "return" on the trade.
We also don't have a clue where that 2026 pick will land. It's not like the Pacers are some powerhouse lol. They are not a FA destination and lost in all his greatness is the fact that Haliburton has been pretty injury prone thus far in his young career.

Not this garbage again. You trade a contract, not for the historic resume of a player. Pascal was an expiring, that is all you get.
Then you start writing more fan friction pretending to know what Scottie is thinking. Why don't you find a new team board to troll on?

Trade isn’t finished. We’re clearly not keeping Bruce brown so let’s see what we get in that deal. See who we get with the draft picks, etc. I’m deeply disappointed with brown so far but his age and past work still make him worth a 1st round pick. Think we can get a second for Jordan too.

It never ceases to amaze me how little some people value their time and mindset.

Eh it is what it is. Should've happened sooner, but they had no choice with him being a pending free agent.

Trade for mostly future draft considerations has not paid dividends 1 month after trade. Shocking.

With respect, you guys would've been F'd had you not made that trade. Hali being out / playing hurt since returning is surely the reason why Pacers record hasn't been better.
You're welcome,
Raptors
P.S. I agree that trade was a steal for Pacers. You just don't get all stars in their prime for bad contracts and a few late firsts.

Not the Siakam trade. Its all the other players that left for nothing over the past 4 years thats showing its effect.

Siakam has a 61% TS on your team, he's not the issue here, your issue is your team can't defend and Siakam wasn't going to solve that.

Get over it. They traded him, was time to move on, the return was okay. Not amazing, but not bad.

Don't see the value in rating either the OG or Siakam trade until the full value of each acquisition is seen. For OG there's still the 2nd round pick this year's draft and what IQ's next contact will look like, and with Siakam it's multiple FRP's where we don't know their actual value right now until they convert into actual players.

You forgot the part where Siakam and his agent were actively lowering his trade value by saying he wouldn't commit to any team
It's either the Pacers package or being left empty handed after Siakam leaves in FA....either way you're going to be complaining.

Pacers just lost by 12 to the 13-48 Spurs.
Raptors playing without Barnes AND Poeltl got wiped by a huge Pelicans team. You were surprised?
