Yep, any event where there is a high probability of slip and falls should not merit premature showboating. This is why favorites are not as guaranteed to win in many winter events as they are in summer events.

Germany has a superb 7 Gold medals and 12 total pieces of hardware (7,3,2), but remember, our genius German EB promised "30 medals". If we ended the games at 7,3,2, I would still be happy. But I wonder how we are going to score 18 medals in the last week. Eric Frenzel (Nordic Combined) and Maria Höfl-Riesch (slalom) are red hot, but our once-powerful biathletes, speed skaters, bob sledders and (male) ski jumpers are mediocre or FUBAR. But maybe, the German EB knows something I do not :)

Edit: now I know! Austria, Netherlands and Switzerland will join Germany. Then the German soccer NT can finally use Alaba, Robben and Shaqiri. WC 2014, here we come!

Germany always has way too high expectations, which prompts the german commentators to rip every german athlete not finishing first. Embarrassing really b/c being 2nd or 3rd is awesome too. Finishing in the top ten is an awesome feat but it won't get honored at all on german tv. SMH.

That interview with Bode Miller yesterday was disgusting and Cristin Cooper is rightly getting ripped a new one on the internet.

Nation of the moment: Belarus. 5 Gold medals! They also have a strong Olympic MVP candidate. Darja Domracheva has swept women's biathlon and won 3 Gold out of 3. No Dutch speed skater, no Norvegian cross country skier and no German luger is THAT good!

I agree that she's the MVP. Winning 3 golds in biathlon is very impressive, and I'd rate individual medals higher than relay/team medals in individual sports.
Sven Kramer will probably end up with 3 gold too though, with the 10km and team pursuit still to come. Our speed skaters really are THAT good

Our Nordic Combined guys

2 Norwegians and 3 Germans attack the last curve, Germans lined up in optimal position (#2, #3, #4), and what do we do? The #3 guy blatantly cuts into the line of the #2 guy, so that #2 guy falls down, and the #3 and the #4 guys lose so much speed so that the 2 Norway guys get an easy Gold and Silver.

PS: This will totally encourage team spirit for the team event!

I'm glad the ice dancing is over. I can't stand to look at (and listen to) Meryl Davis anymore.

Domracheva is awesome, as everyone said. You'd want her on your side in an outdoor hunt for sure. She's not bad looking, either. ;)

Another German fail today (alpine skiing this time): Did you see Stefan Luitz miss the last freaking gate?! He was on pace for the second place :banghead:
