The IOC has forbidden the Ukraine team to wear black armbands in mourning of the 25 ppl who were killed in civil unrest last night. Wake up, IOC. Sports are real life, not some sugary Disney parade.

In related news: Germany is cornering the market on falls during cross country skiing. :banghead:

This time it wasn't all our fault.

Screw you, Finland.

If Finland is annihilated by some Russian nuclear attack tonight, you know why

Or if for some mysterious reason, Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk and Co. transfer to some Siberian KHL team b/c some guy named Putin "wants them to".

Rough short program yesterday for Mao Asada in figure skating. The look on her face after she was handed those scores was rough viewing. She may not medal, but she might have stole the show out from under everyone after the free, though.

Omg, the judging in the womens final is such a mess, that Santikova score. Just no way to justify 5 points more than Yuna and 7 points more than Asada

CANADA GOLD IN WOMEN'S HOCKEY. What. A. Comeback!! Less than four minutes to go with the US up 2-0 and Canada scores back to back to tie and then they win in overtime. Un-effing believable!! :o 8-) :D

Judged sports need to gtfo from the Olympics. Or there needs to be some kind of new format.

Just in: Team Germany has its first doping case. (Edit) Seems to be a cross country skier or a biathlete. They either fell or finished 4th, not much to lose.

Update: the doped athlete is biathlete Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle, who didn't medal (4th).

Of all things, it had to be our SLOWEST biathlete.

 Our women's biathlon team does what Germans do best: fall down. (And then, choking on the shooting range.)

BTW, they are participating w/o Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle. Both her A and B samples seem positive. :X

LOL at this speedskater lady blaming everyone but herself after finishing last...maybe she's just not as much of a world class speedskater as she thought she was?

Looking at the medal standings and seeing so many competitive countries is awesome.

The summer Olympics are so boring with only two competitive countries.

The other countries simply need to step up their game in the summer.

But many summer events also favour genetics over skill/luck, so countries with guys who have a physical advantage over everyone else in any given discipline gets a major advantage. Winter events have a bit more level playing ground with skis and skates and many "slip n fall" events.

The Netherland's domination in speed skating was damn impressive. I don't think I've ever seen one country rule like that.
