I've always thought Bird has an insane win percentage.

I thought I hadn't seen MJ win anything for a while, so I looked at the spreadsheet and he has only has 1 win since April 2020, while Lebron has 16 in that time. In 2016 and 2017 MJ had 14 wins and Lebron had 4.

Think a lot of it is down to reduced participation which in turn leads to tighter timelines which might exclude MJ. You'll pretty much never have a game where LeBron is ineligible.

Of course, there is also the fact that LeBron is just easier to build around and over 4 FGA cheaper...

It does seem like he's not in a lot of games, but some other 90s eligible players still did better in that timeframe, Robinson has 9 since April 2020 for example, Drexler has 8, and players like Hakeem, Barkley, Malone have at least 4. Magic has 3 which is low for him but there has been especially fewer pre 90s games. The difference between Jordan having 1 win and 4-5 might be just a coinflip though.

It doesn't help that Smash hasn't played very much who was the MJ whisperer, and when Super Powered played he was guaranteed an extra vote every playoff series, along with some other posters who were MJ fanboy-ish.

This makes sense.

David Robinson - Typically picked in the early 2nd or very late 1st, MVP two-way player with relatively low FGA.

Clyde Drexler - Typically picked in the 3rd-4th rounds and an all-nba 1st talent

I think Jordan is more difficult to build around [in a vacuum, not including FGA] than a few/handful of guys. I actually think he should be going 3-6 in drafts, not #2.

I think once you get past the players like Malone and Barkley who are kind of gatekeepers for the lower tier MVP but not the Rose AI ones, it's a pretty modest drop to Drexler, for example what's a better combo Drexler/Lebron or Lebron/Barkley? Pretty close. Power forward is also cheaper on average than wing star making up some of the 1.4 difference. I prefer Malone as a player to both but he is also more expensive.

These games and the current era in basketball both decrease Jordan's value. It would be harder for a player like him to dominate the way the game is played now. When teams are relatively loaded his scoring prowess is worth a bit less.

I'd still have him as a top two, maybe three player. But he'd be a far and away number one if we were playing these in the early nineties.
