Best of Enemies Draft : Play-In Fadeaway_J vs Larry_Russell*

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Wed Mar 13, 2024 12:59 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances**

86.1/88

Another playin matchup.

We will defend straight up and I believe that I have arguably the best defensive team top to bottom of anyone.

Harper, DPOY-3 player will pick up the Billups. HArper has all the tools to effectively defend billups here.
Christie, DPOY-5 player will pick up Richmond, a long defender with elite skills at defense will be a great cover against Mitch.
Pierce, a very solid defender on his own, gets to coast a bit there covering Ariza.
Wallace will take on Horford here. Als a great 3pt shooter and secondary passer with a little post up game. Sheed has all the tools to effectively defend Al here
Wilt on KAJ. They had some great battles back in the day after some WILT injuries and age had caught up to him. But this is peak and prime wilt. 7foot1, 300 pounds, with the ability to one step touch the top of the backboard (rumored) (reported 40+ inch vertical), set a high jump record of 6foot 6 inches (Michael Jordans height) ran the 440 in only 49 seconds, long jumped 22 feet, shot put over 53 feet, could palm a BOWLING BALL

If anyone could impact the skyhook, its this man.

Offensively we are going to use our size, athleticism and shooting to our advantage. We are going to spread the floor out for Wilt to be dominate on the inside with his speed, power and jumping ability.
Pierce and Harper will run plays with wilt using pick and rolls.
Wilt was an exception passer for a big man who could find the open guy for the great look averaging almost 8 assists per game, 3rd in the league asnd having him surrounded by all guys who are capable and willing to pull the trigger on a three pointer will force single coverage on him as no one can get left.

My bench is also great here featuring two current 6moty winners and another great 2 way 3pt shooter.

Mitch Richmond - 16.9
Trevor Ariza - 9.7
Ron Harper - 5.3
Gerald Wallace - 12.4
Channing Frye - 5.0

Total: 87.9/88.0

Our setup is fairly straightforward: one of the most devastating playoff scorers in NBA history flanked by a dynamic backcourt and plenty of shooting. Defensively, Kareem anchors the middle while Horford does a little bit of everything, while Ariza, Wallace, and Harper put the screws to opposing perimeter threats.

Matchup
- Defensive assignments will be straight up. Ariza and Wallace will split the Pierce matchup.
- We have a handful of small but meaningful offensive advantages here. Kareem over the course of his career was better than Wilt at ratcheting up his scoring volume in a way that correlated with team success; in the chosen season, he averaged 31.9 ppg on 63.9% TS over the entire playoffs. Pierce and Billups are comparable in their respective roles, but Richmond is a superior third option to Harper. Horford occupies the same stretch 4/5 role as Sheed, but at considerably greater efficiency and with excellent playmaking mixed in. The collective effect is that we should be able to score a bit more reliably over the course of the series.

Good luck Larry.

Two similar builds and a tough decision because both match up well.

I prefer Billups as the floor manager, but I'll give the Harper Pierce duo some edge over Billups Richmond. While Gerald Wallace is the best sixth man, Odom has similar impact and Larry has better depth with Brogdon in the mix.

Tough but I'll go with Larry

I broadly prefer Kareem to Wilt as a better all round scorer and playoff performer and love the backcourt with him.

Horford is a great complementary piece too even if his history suggests he isn’t super well suited alongside a ball dominant interior bigman.

Of the 5-8 men Gerald Wallace is my favorite of the bunch. While the final 3 men on the depth chart have a clear edge to LR I don’t think that quite gets him there.

I don't have Kareem with any advantage over this version of Wilt. I like Pierce a bit more as a robin. Small differences between benches are often overdone here, but you have to acknowledge Larry's edge there.

Pretty close builds but I'll go with Larry's depth and using 80 Kareem instead of 77 is a bit more relevant than in other matchups to me, as older Kareem was vulnerable to monster physical rebounders like Moses. Vote Larry.
