TWIST DRAFT - VOTING THREAD (100+ Posters please vote)

Post#1 » by calderon13 » Fri Sep 26, 2008 4:29 am

WEST VOTES EAST AND EAST VOTES WEST. Also, outside Judges/Voters are welcome to vote but should have 100 or more posts in order to rank the teams.

This is the scenario that the voters should keep in mind while ranking the teams:

14 teams, 82 games, all doing their best to clinch a spot for the playoffs but
only 8 teams will advance to the playoffs. (4 from each conference)
- Are the teams well balanced? (eg. 4 PGs and only 1 Cc).
- Are the teams realistic? (ie. Chemistry, attitude problems,
"I am the leader cz I am the best" issues).
- How good is the team's defense?
- How destructive is the offense?
- Is the pine good enough to make an impact on the game?
- The voters should keep in mind that the length of the season is the same as NBA.
- A team will play another team multiple times just like how it happens in the NBA.
- Defense - 2 points
- Offense - 2 points
- Chemistry - 2 points
- Realism - 2 points
- Bench - 2 points

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE TEAMS ARE FORMED FOR THIS SEASON ONLY. A WIN NOW SITUATION.

Points - Rank
------------------
10 - First
9 - Second
8 - Third
7 - Fourth
6 - Fifth
5 - Sixth
4 - Seventh
3 - Eighth
2 - Ninth
1 - Tenth
0 - Eleventh - Fourteenth

Are the participants supposed to vote, or just non-participants. And where's your vote, Calderon?! :p

Just a quick pitch for my team:
1. Finals experience in Fisher, House, Vujacic, Bowen, Thomas. That doesn't include Horford or Rose, who have been to the NCAA championship.

2. Run and Gun: Rose will run this fast-paced team with the veteran Fisher teaching the young PG. Richardson, Ellis, Pietrus, Gay, Beasley, and Howard will all run the floor.

3. While Dwight and Beasley will mesh as a couple goofballs, players like Bowen, Fisher and Kurt Thomas will keep them in check. Vujacic, Rose and Horford are also young leaders. Richardson, Pietrus, Ellis, and Harrington all played with the Warriors over the past couple years, so I brought some of their chemistry to my team.

Hopefully, all this will lead my team to a championship with a mix of vets and rooks.

Haha I didn't know we could explain our teams. Are we doing that or not? I was under the assumption that we were not. And participants voting sounds like a bad idea.

I would say deNIEd's Celtics are the best team of the bunch. I'm not sure you're going to get 100 votes around here, though.

If that's the case, then you need to get his post explaining his team out of here.

Here's an Idea....since nobody is voting...

We separate the 14 teams into two conferences A and B

Conference A
Team 1
Team 2
Team 3
Team 4
Team 5
Team 6
Team 7

Conference B
Team 8
Team 9
Team 10
Team 11
Team 12
Team 13
Team 14

Conference A can only vote for Conference B and vice versa. The public can also give their vote as well. Ranking each category like this

10 being the best - 1 being the worst

For example -

Team Chemistry Category - Are the teams well balanced? (eg. 4 PGs and only 1 Cc).
- Are the teams realistic? (ie. Chemistry, attitude problems,
"I am the leader cz I am the best" issues). On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate this team in this area.

Team Offense category
If the franchise player went down, could this team still win games?

Team Defense category
Will the team score 150 points a game but give up 275??

Once we get to the top 4 teams, then we should allow the public to vote...but for now...let's keep it in house i guess....

Just a suggestion Calderon, not trying to step on your shoes... :D

BTW- you should decide seeding....

I'm not voting but I like Boston. I also like Detroit but think they have their depth chart mixed up a little. It should probably be:

Billups/Nelson/ Navarro
TMAC/ Allen/ Westbrook
Artest/Lewis/ Wally
West/ Lewis/ Murphy
Chadler/ Miller/ Noah

That's a pretty good combination of scoring and defense.. i think Tmac/artest are a better compliment starting at the wings than allen/ Tmac

That was a lineup that was going to happen a lot... but we didn't get to explain our teams. The starting lineup would always be either the one you suggested or the one that I had... depending on the opponent. Thanks for the recognition!

Why not just use the conferences they were actually in if you're going that route?

Detroit East, SAS West, etc etc.
