Cleveland will probably end up with Marion. This way, Marion gets to be the number one option in 2010 on the worst team in the league, which is what he's always wanted.

Wow, I'd forgotten about Marion. He'd be the athletic defender at the 4 that Cleveland has been missing. If he can still hit the open 3, he could help them a lot. And at the MLE he'd be an excellent value.

Mo Williams would probably be the number 1 option if LeBron was to leave.

I think Matrix resigns with Tor for more money.

I'm not sure they re-sign him. He's not good enough to play second fiddle to Bosh, they just drafted DeRozan, and they are reportedly close to signing Carlos Defino to a deal. I just don't see Marion in their longterm plans.

Patience, grasshopper. There are still lots of free agents on the market and a dwindling supply of suitors. The bargains will be better later this summer.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves (Part IV)
Greetings from the hell hole that is Cleveland, Ohio. The only plus about the wife being from here is that she never gets the itch to move back here.
Wonderful news about Artest and Ariza. Marion would be a formidable addition, but he doesn't strike me as the type of guy to value winning enough to come play in this dump. Plus I think he thinks he's suited to a more up-tempo system.
Everyone enjoy your holiday weekends.

Looks like Morris Almond will finally get a shot at proving he was a better pick at 27 than Nick Young was at 16. Knicks are signing him.

Turk goes to Portland per ESPN.
I think Orlando is weaker now. THey lost some important pieces in Battie, Lee, Turk, Alston and replaced them with VC.

They have a decision as well whether to match the Dallas offer on Gortat or not. If he goes, their bench will be looking very different this year. They still have the MLE if they want to use it.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves (Part IV)
Orlando's GM indicated in a radio interview that they would probably match a MLE offer to Gortat. They could see him starting if he adds a jump shot. Let's also not forget that the Magic did acquire Ryan Anderson who could be a solid role player for them. As of right now, they are weaker but they still have an opportunity to acquire a piece or two in free agency to address some backcourt depth and possibly another big man.

Marion can stay in Toronto and be the #1 option when Bosh leaves.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves (Part IV)
I thought the Carter trade made some sense for the Magic at the outset, as it gave them two years of wild spending before having the opportunity to reshuffle (Turkey-Glue being a five year bond).
But it seems they are going to mostly plug minimum salary guys. And now they plan to spend the whole MLE on Gorat? I don't know if that is the way to go for them, they have other needs.
I guess we need to see what kind of minimum guys they can get, as it might be better than expected with the 'contender discount'. But at the moment, they are just horribly thin. Every team has guys that they just can't lose and still compete, but with the Magic now, it seems like J.J. Redick going down would be a crippling loss.
They are vulnerable.

Marion has been offered $32 million for four years?
I have a vision of Danny Ferry holding a press conference where he is "very proud to introduce Grant Hill as the newest member of the Cleveland Cavaliers". Everyone pretends to smile.
So, plug in more old guys, lose in the second round to the wizards and then watch Lebron walk out....
I would be just giddy at that.

Sweet! Cleveland has lost out on EVERYBODY! Rasheed Wallace is still out there but if I'm him I look at Boston, Orlando, and San Antonio over Cleveland because they're window is going to be more than just one season.

Ben Gordon to the Pistons is a done deal. The method by which he will get there is still under discussion.
CBSSports.com has learned that the Bulls and Pistons may yet revisit Detroit's agreement with Ben Gordon and instead investigate a sign-and-trade that would send Allen Iverson to Chicago.

So Hedo is not going to Portland. Looks like Toronto is his destination most likely.

Toronto was the target all along, recall the earlier wire story discussing Mrs. Glu's fondness for Toronto, and that was a major factor in the decision.

Hope Mrs. Glu likes losing...bad move, Turkey-Glue!

Looks like Shawn Marion just became available with the Raptors signing Hedo.
