Suns Intend To Keep Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue May 7, 2024 2:35 pm

The Phoenix Suns' disappointing first round performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves has led to some speculation that they may have to break up their superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in order to field a more balanced roster.

"Do people in the league say that?" said Brian Windhorst on The Rich Eisen Show. "Yes, they do. I talk to multiple people who think that's what they're going to have to do that. Do the Suns say that? No, they do not.

"I think the Suns' intention is to keep all three of these star players. Tweak the roster, tweak some of their systems and processes and try to be better next year."

Windhorst also stressed how Durant spoke about how the Suns could benefit from continuity.

The Suns have also yet to publicly decide the future of Frank Vogel as head coach.

I'm not sure how they would even be able to break it up. Their only real trade asset is Booker. They have no first round picks after 2024 until 2030. Bradley Beal has a no trade contract. KD is on the down slope and has had the worst playoff performances of his career over the last three seasons. They're ****.

What choice do they have but to run it back with a new supporting cast and coach?

Maybe they can just give KD to the Pistons? They are looking for a forward and they have enough cap to absorb his colossal contract without sending back anything in return.

Do they have a choice? KD will let them know when he wants to break it up.

you would be suprised what people would pay for KD still. he has less value than booker. but around the league booker is a guy that would net a gigantic haul. And KD still generates enough interest to get another cheaper starplayer and picks or multiple roleplayers and picks.the problem all these 3 guys they have. do the same thing, high volume scoring. none of them can run an offense. beal and booker is one of the worst fits in the league imo.. so thats kind of the dilemma. Beal has 0 value and is just untradable for the next years.
im bout dat action boss

KD still definitely has positive trade value.

If you keep looking, you will eventually find a team willing to part with 2 FRPs plus half of their rotation for the pleasure to pay a 35yo KD $109m over two years.

However, your team will have to pay second apron taxes while you shop around. LOL

SSOL Part Deux seems to make the most sense if they feel they have no options other than to go with these guys.

Okc sixers and lakers would go for KD. A number of other teams too however this post season has been brutal and if it keeps going this way you dont neee fineese but players that beat you up.. Lakers with AD and LBJ can do that but neer more of those players ane putting a lot into KD wouldnt help.. OKC already will have problems in that area and 76ers would end up with 3 players on the roster l.

He put up 27/7/3 on an absurd 65% TS against the best defense in the league. He's just on a team that has a roster that was constructed like it was by a 9 year old on 2K. 3 scorers and nothing else. He'd improve basically every other team in the league by a lot.

It will be the same supporting cast they signed them to two year contracts and have limited abilities to make trades in addition they need to sign grayson allen which will cost them dearly..

Even if they traded KD and Beal how can they beat Minny, OKC, or Den in 2025? It won't be possible.

they literally can't trade beal unless he agrees

add the contract in and he's instantly a severe negative asset from a trade perspective

Yea unless they trade KD there’s no real way to fix it. Trading Booker doesn’t make sense unless you were to do a complete rebuild and that makes zero sense since they have none of their future picks.

Would KD for KAT make any sense for either team? I personally think Naz Reid is just waiting for a bigger role with starter minutes. KAT would align with Bookers trajectory and age.
