Clearly there is no calvary charging over the hill to save this team. If you can’t make the move preseason you likely don’t have any moves coming prior to the deadline…at which time it may be far too late.

Good read. I liked him saying Kai is basically a 5 right now but can play some 4 as SL all but verified that right now anyway. Him saying Mark will be able to hit 3s is encouraging, but I'm in no hurry to see him try to become some stretch 5 as there are other more important aspects of his game he needs to work on and he should let that develop naturally. Him saying Nick Richard's has improved more than anyone on the team over the summer is interesting, but there's one thing looking great in workouts over the summer and actually bringing it onto the court in live game situations.

It didn’t sound like Mark will be playing in a hurry, sounds more likely that Kai could work his way into the centre rotation first

Uh... 3rd out of 4?

That GM survey did not treat the Hornets kindly at all.

Lol how many teams changed coaches? I didn't even think about that. Been a hell of a long day

Yeah, I did this exact process in my mind when I saw that tweet.

Step 1 - "wow people like Cliff"

Step 2 - "I guess we underestimate his reputation around the league"

Step 3 - "wait, this is a rank of new coaches. how many new coaches are there?"

I just then went to Step 4 - I'm going to assume there were a bunch of changes and just let myself stop at Step 2.

Yeah, no one from the Hornets got a single vote for any category except Clifford ranking 3rd out of 4 new head coaches.

They never said who it was, but almost everyone has said it was a wife or daughter of one of the owners.

Calling it: Charles Lee from Milwaukee will be our HC next season.

Major props to Cliff so far. He's gotten this team to buy in, holds everyone accountable, gives credit where credit is due, and I just really like what he's been saying to the media in general.

this is what he brings in Year 1 every stop and it was much needed after Borrego.

The next hurdle, which has yet to happen in either of his stops in Charlotte or Orlando, is not allowing the game plan to get stale, predictable, and exploited by everyone once teams have film on what we do. If he's grown in that regard, he's a legit HC.

Knowing what we already know about him, and seeing this (small sample size) turn-around, I'd have really liked him as a lead assistant the last couple years. It's gonna take me longer than 3 games to believe in him as a long term HC.

Agreed, and perhaps my take was a bit expeditious. I guess with all of the terrible offseason news I expected to at least start out sluggish, but I just really like the change in style of how we've played compared to Borrego. It seems more sustainable and logical. And it was time to hold players accountable and that's what Cliff has no problem doing...and as long as the players continue to buy in, Cliff's dedicated to the game and this is the most talented roster he's ever had. The NBA seems pretty wide open this year, and as he said, they shouldn't put a limit to how good they can be. On that podcast he went on today, the story about LaMelo texting him, asking for material with which to study in order to improve on his mistakes in practice, is a great sign IMO.

Clifford has been inviting a lot of good coaches to practices. Maybe Musselman will help steer Nick Smith here, he'd be a phenomenal fit next to LaMelo.

I also think Musselman would be a great coach in the NBA. MJ and Kupchak should stay in touch with him as a potential option down the road.
