OT: Georgia wins 2008 Sugar Bowl

Post#1 » by Hawks » Wed Jan 2, 2008 6:27 am

Great job by Georgia on winning the Sugar Bowl and in a very convincing way. Hawaii padded their passing stats toward the end. Georgia dominated the game.

It was even greater to see Georgia win after the year in football we have had in this state. Falcons turning into a complete joke. GT getting beat in their bowl game. It is nice to have something to cheer about from a football standpoint.

I'm an FSU (mother graduated) and Indiana (my alma mater) fan so the UGA-GT thing never mattered much to me (I pick UGA when I have to). But UGA played a great game and will be serious force next season. As for Hawaii, they simply didn't belong.

Hawaii never had a chance. What a joke of a match up that was. Our offense went easy on them and we called off the "dawgs" with almost the entire 4th quarter remaining.

Colt Brennan got the beating of his life on his last college game. Kind of feel bad for him. But not really. If he was friends with any of his OL before this game I think it's safe to say those friendships are over. I have never seen an OL get whipped constantly by 3 and 4 man rushes like tonight. Especially a 12-0 team in a BCS bowl.

Hawai'i didnt belong and that was made clear. But I still think they deserved a shot at a top team after going undefeated.

Hawaii simply had a bad matchup. They were unlucky enough to get put in a game against a red hot, angry Georgia team. Georgia was practically playing a home game. I think if Hawaii was put in the Fiesta or Orange bowl, they would've won. Georgia was just too good, they probably should've been playing in the national title game.

If you get handled like that by a top team, you are not a top team. As I said before, I still think they earned the opportunity to prove they were a legit team. But clearly that was not the case.

I'm not a football fan, but even I am annoyed by the bowl system. In a 16-team playoff system, I might even watch a few games.

IMHO, a team like Georgia could win it all in a playoff.

I'm sorry, but Hawaii doesn't belong against any BCS team. Except maybe Kansas.

Kansas are a good team. I think some of the UGA fans seriously underrate teams by virtue of name recognition and them not playing in the SEC. Mizzou deserved BCS over KU, but KU have a real good team.

I have seen Kansas play and they aren't that good. They just had a Hawaii-type schedule (well, not quite as bad but close). They lost to the only good team they played.
