Thanks.
Why? Is Sarr considered a generational talent to build around? Thought this is considered a 'weak' draft.

Surprised at #1 pick etc.
But the most interesting was his response to this question:

How does the having the #1 Pick affect what you do in Free Agency and with the rest of the roster?

1. There will be some alterations

2. Consider cost of #1 pick vs #10 and how you navigate the difference in salary

3. Want to spend more but consideration must be given to the new salary cap structure.

4. Given green light to spend

5. If there is a problem with spending, look at him first and not the owner

For all the idiots who keep talking about "weak draft", you can read what RealGMer said about the 2022 draft and 2020. Goes to the lack of BB IQ we have on realgm....

This is why players former players typically don't make good GMs...they're too short-sighted.

I'd be more impressed if he listed who would be the player(s) we could/should trade the pick for. Without that - pointless.
Add to the fact that the two guys the FO indicated they'd build around are 25 and 22.

I think the hawks could've used another big 5 next to Pau, he'd fill out in time, but I thought he was small dealing with some centers.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

While I admittedly don't see a ton of top-tier talent in this draft, I appreciate the reminder that labelling a draft as a whole isn't particularly wise or accurate.

It used to be mentioned constantly that you need to give guys 2.5 to 3 years of development before you begin to draw broad conclusions. These days, the tendency is an unhelpful rush to judgement.

I love the fact that we traded #2 for SAR, who kills it for us, then Billy Knight salary dumps him to the Blazers along with Ratliff for Sheed. We then flip Sheed for a 1st...which became Josh Smith.

Imagine trading the #1 pick and ending up with both these guys instead.
Definitely something to consider.

Lucking into 1 should be looked as a found 'money'

Agreed.

And between you and me, jayu...I'm strongly leaning towards trading down in this draft.

Sarr looks like a defensive menace. But I think it's more likely he turns into Nic Claxton than Evan Mobley.
Getting two (or three?) shots in the draft seems like the better use of assets.

I disagree on trading down...don't overthink it. Just take the guy.
Hawks need a defensive menace with size, be to the defense what Trae is to the offense. And he has an offensive game beyond 3ft and can handle the ball (Nic doesn't).
