Caleb was probably going after the rebound initially but as soon as he realized he had no chance at the ball, it was a clear hip check on an airborne player. Definitely NOT a basketball play. You don't turn your back away from the rim going after a rebound.

Only reason it wasn’t reviewed was because Tatum got up immediately and acted like a man and told to move on. If he sold it like how Lebron always does when he falls in pain, they would review it and likely would gave it a flagrant 2.

We finished the season with one of the largest point differential in league history, which means we went up big and maintained that better than almost every other team in history! No one wants to see the Celtics stop giving max effort, but it's not realistic, if it was, how has it been so hard for the entire league in its history? Celtics were doing this when the league has been spamming threes that get you back in games easily! Teams get back into it because they hit 3s at crazy clips for a few minutes and then the game is close again, it's not rocket science.

Heat came back because the Cs stopped playing defense. Or offense.

And yes, they're absurd expectations. They remain.

Lebron or Lowry. They would've milked that and we'd have a 15-minute delay.

FYI NBA TV does a postgame show after every playoff game. About 90 minutes of highlights and interviews etc. Pretty cool.

Tatum and the Bench were the key factors in this one. Hope KP and Tatum are ok tomorrow.

It’s sad the only reason you wrote this was to show disdain for Jaylen.

Be better man.

Let’s keep the game thread about the players. Remember, responding to you is an immediate ban.

Leader of the JB cult, please relax and enjoy the playoffs.

Voted for KP and Tatum because they had the most impact. I also thought White was solid and clutch as usual.

Move on to game 2.

How ironic when your always keep it personal with Jaylen.

Also, do you have any other words in your vocabulary than “leader of the JB cult” when talking about people that don’t hate Jaylen ?

Martin's bad acts were in the initial reckless run-up and leap. Turning his body didn't make the collision worse, and indeed may have been a -- successful! -- attempt to make it less serious.

That undercut by Martin was dirty and he should be suspended for it. But why is nobody commenting on why Tatum was even in the game in the first place? He should’ve been on the bench at that point in the game when the win wasn’t in doubt. ESPECIALLY against a dirty team like the Heat. Mazzulla should thank his lucky stars Tatum wasn’t hurt there.

Tatum should not have logged 41 minutes in what was essentially a wire to wire blowout.

All you have to do is watch the clip to tell that Martin chased down Tatum before any other play. He knew what he was doing.

Up 14 with 90 secs left when Heat called a timeout. Joe should've pulled Tatum and KP at least. But never at any point before that.

Tatum could've still landed on his feet with the initial bump if Martin didn't follow through with the full undercut. Which makes me think now he was never going after the rebound in the first place.

He might have something there.

Jaylen got a Tech, for standing up for Tatum.

We'll see what happens.

I would have loved to see some anger/emotion from JT instead of walking bAck trying to calm JB down! JT needs to stop trying to be friends with the enemy. Mambas not staying quiet after a cheap shot like that

I don't think a quarter pirouette made much difference one way or the other, except to broaden the surface of impact. (But maybe I'm overlooking a forceful hip check.)

Leaping straight into an airborne Tatum was the essence of the attack.

LOL at that zone offense number. Tatum and KP deserve the votes.

People see things differently, I thought he thanked JB for having his back. Tatum did nothing wrong there. Heat bank on us losing our cool, they do it to see if they are still in our heads, Tatum is giving off the vibe; your tactics aren't going to work, we're different!

He thanks Jaylen twice! Right after, then a real pat on the chest after the first free throw. I’ve watched them together for a long time, that felt different to me than past years. Very much felt like brothers on the court type of thing.

Tatum bouncing up like he did absolutely set a tone, and you nailed it.

Bingo. There's no JB cult. There are just people who don't have an irrational hatred for JB. According to some folks here, that qualifies as a cult.
