Where Will Tom Glavine End Up?

Post#1 » by Boston's Future » Sat Nov 3, 2007 10:09 pm

He's said its either the Mets or the Braves, but I read somewhere there is a longshot chance that he could pitch for the Red Sox if they want to. Glavine grew up in Concord, NH.

Why would the Red Sox want him? He was often mediocre in the NL and you want him pitching in the AL East? Any young pitcher they put in the rotation would do a comparable job for much less money.

Why would the Sox replace Schilling with an older, even worse pitcher? Because he was born in New England? So wasn't Bob Tewksbury and Jeff Juden. Might as well see what they're up to.

Tom Glavine is too old and ineffective now. He's still a serviceable NL pitcher, but in the AL he would get shelled, and having a fly ball pitcher at Fenway is not a good idea. If it was the Glavine of 10 years ago, that would be a different story.
