I feel like they're just saying this to build some leverage in negotiations. There's no reason for them to keep Yelich with how bad they're about to be, and it's clear that his value will never be higher than it is now.

You could make the argument that Yelich, Ozuna, Stanton was the best OF in the NL last year. The Marlins just traded Ozuna and Stanton (a combined 96 homers last season) and didn't get any top 100 prospects in return. Their ownership makes Liberty Media look like Ted Turner.

Yeah the Cardinals robbed the Marlins for Ozuna. Or are the Marlins really selling Stanton, Ozuna and Yelich this low??

I still want to get Yelich, and maybe we can get him for a good deal, since Miami is selling this low.

A trade with what they have been taking back so far,

Fried, Touki, Newcomb, Pache and Ruiz for Yelich and Prado.

If they want a higher end trade,

Anderson, Touki, Pache and Ruiz for Yelich and Prado.

Anderson would be their highest rated prospect(even over Alcantara who they just got from Cards) and only prospect they would have in the top 100.

Kinda surprised the Braves apparently have shown no interest in keeping Phillips - either as a stopgap at 3B or as a high use utility guy. Maybe they do plan to acquire a 3rd baseman?

Yankees and Pirates discussing Gerrit Cole, centered around prospects Frazier and Adams. Two of the Yankees top 3 prospects :banghead:

I would love to add Cole(but not at that price) and Yelich.

Big move by the Phillies getting Carlos Santana - such a consistent dependable 2-way 1st baseman. Seems like the Phillies are making moves to try to compete next year. I don't think they're done.

The first domino falls. An OF spot is now cleared for Acuna next season, and our defense immediately improves in one of the corner OF spots. Now let's look to move Markakis.

Braves took on some really bad contracts this year and didn't really get any value but that was to be expected. In addition to clearing the way for Acuna, this move gets Kemp's money off the books for 2019 and sets the Braves up to be players in FA next year.

Not having to attach a prospect to Kemp's terrible contract (in addition to his shot hamstrings and inability to play defense) is a bonus. I like this as AA's first big move.

Agree. Trade Markakis for a bullpen arm or whatever prospect(s) you can get. Then go get Yelich!!

Yelich unhappy, wants to talk Marlins future direction with owners, possibly wants to get traded.

Let's go get him Atlanta and AA!

The Braves are going to have money to spend in 2019, when FA's like Machado, Harper and Kershaw could be available. I think if the Braves want to sign a big name, a move like trading for Yelich helps. Selling one of those FAs on our core of Freeman, Albies, Swanson, Acuna, Yelich, plus some of those young arms that we are ready to compete, would be a lot better with Yelich in our pitch.

Say you go get Harper, you could trade Inciarte to make room. Yelich, Acuna, Harper outfield :o

Wow - nice OF. Can we try switching to a 4 OF defense. Maybe use Yelich as the shallow rover OFer. Use Swanson on the left side of the infield, Albies up the middle, with Freddie at 1B. The defense of the future.

I like that trade better without Prado. If we sign Harper, we're gonna need to save some money elsewhere - and Prado's got 2 expensive years left reaching his mid 30's.

Yes, Christian Yelich would be a fantastic addition to add, and to build on for the future.
I agree, Christian Yelich would be a nice foundation pieces to attract free agents, maybe not star talent tho.

When the trade was reported I liked it and still do.
I'm happy for Matt Kemp and I enjoyed his time with us while it lasted.

Preston Tucker writes his future at this point.
He should be able to compete for a starting position so we'll see what he's made of this spring. At 27, time is still on his side, but it's also time for him to establish himself, and for him to have a future at the MLB level. I will keep an eye on him this spring.

Can't say I'm optimistic about Tucker, but it doesn't hurt to give him a look. Reports are that he's not a particularly good defensive corner OFer, and he's yet to impress as a hitter in the majors.
