Wilcox Could Miss One Month

Dec 23, 2012 5:01 PM

Chris Wilcox could miss one month with a sprained ligament in his right thumb, according to Doc Rivers.

Wilcox had been a solid contributor for the Boston Celtics this season, but he suffered the injury in Tuesday's loss to the Chicago Bulls.

"Chris is out; he's out for a while," Rivers said. "I don't know how long (but) the first report I got was three to four weeks. He'll be out."

The Celtics could now look to sign a free agent big man, which Rivers admitted.

"You would think (we would sign someone)," Rivers said. "But obviously that's the one position where they don't grow on trees. We just have to be patient. Obviously we need another big (man) with Chris being out. I don't know if we're going to get another big on this (four-game) trip."

Sources: Lakers Passed On Delonte West To Prevent Further Complications

Dec 22, 2012 12:31 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers elected to pass on signing Delonte West due to concerns about how his presence would possibly further destabilize an already complicated situation, according to sources.

West was strongly considered during the Lakers' 1-6 start to December, but ultimately decided the safer option was to wait for Steve Nash to return.

Sources say the Lakers could still bring in another point guard.

Mickael Gelabale Reaches Out To NBA Teams For Potential Return

Dec 21, 2012 9:54 PM

In an effort to return to the NBA, Mickael Gelabale has informed all 30 teams about his interest in signing with an organization between now and Jan. 30, agent Bill McCandless told RealGM on Friday afternoon.

Gelabale’s agency reached out to all teams through email, and it is confident that someone will seriously consider acquiring Gelabale in January.

“He’s better than [Chris] Douglas-Roberts or any D-Leaguer in my opinion,” McCandless said.

After his contract with Croatian club Cedevita ended late last week, Gelabale moved to Valencia of the ACB – where he holds an opt-out clause to leave to the NBA by Jan. 30.

Gelabale, whose offensive efficiency ranks second in the EuroLeague, scored 11 points in 22 minutes in his first game with Valencia against Real Madrid. At 6-foot-7, Gelabale also provides defensive versatility.

The Minnesota Timberwolves could pursue Gelabale, but they are not likely to sign a wing player until after Dec. 25, a league source said.

Gelabale, 29, spent two seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics after being selected in the second round of the 2005 NBA draft, averaging 4.5 points on 45 percent shooting in 109 games.
