I think they keep Mazulla. Speaking of timelines, do we think Tatum didn’t have an inkling about what was happening in June? Interview prob isn’t random imo.

They talked like you, they were into the same things as you, and the younger guys were usually more easy-going, but when they dug into you, it felt like your older sibling trying to motivate you instead of a parent giving you ****. I trust Brad’s ability to pick good coaches, and if he felt Mazzulla was a better choice than Stoudamire, then so be it. Brad is a forward thinker, so he’s definitely not going to let a bureaucratic trait like age or experience sway him.
Placing a few bucks on Mazzulla to win coach of the year. He’s got a talented roster, his defense was already in place last year, and the voters love a good narrative, and there is no better story to be told than Joe’s.
I agree with everything stated with one deviation, A younger coach will be more fun and easier, butvwhen things get tough some players may challenge him.. But overall in time he will earn everyone's respect. Still want a vet assistant..

If this were last season's team, yes, the offense would be a concern under Mazulla.
But I think with the addition of Brogdon, the offense will not be an issue.
It would have to be a really incompetent coach for this Celtics offense failing.

If we can score 115 a game and our defense remains the same...we can win it all. We have to score throughout the game. Tatum should be 30+. Brown 25+. We need to run a lot more than we do. Brog will help there.

Bench Depth will again be his problem
Stevens is still a few veterans short

Nah, if we stay reasonably healthy from here we will be fine. Brogdon is huge, if he's really back to his old self, only question is health. Much more impactful than Gallo, who will be back in Jan/Feb anyways but meh he kinda sucks. Our other bench guys are mostly young, so they will improve. Not worried about depth, so much as health this year. Horf is old, TL is already injured, Gallo and Brogdon may not be healthy. If we don't have those guys for much of the time then we are screwed, and no scrap-heap vet is going to fix that.

January/February? Hell no. Lol. I’d be shocked if he came back that soon given his age.

How long before the inevitable Celtics RealGM forum's meltdown about Joe Mazzulla being head coach of the Boston Celtics?
I give it until 6 minutes into the first quarter of the first Celtics pre season game.

While I already gave my 2 cents on why I believe in Joe, everyone knows or should know health is way more important to the success or failure (for Boston especially) than anyone coaching. In the NFL, QBs get too much credit or too much blame.. I feel the same applies for an NBA HC..
Joe will be fine... now ask me this about the health of RW and Horford etc..

While we are whiteboarding worst scenarios - how has Quinn Snyder not been mentioned in any of these threads yet?
For the record I'm on team Joe - when your coach blows up for sexing up the organization, gotta have a cool, upbeat smart guy with a checkered past take over the helm. Just the way it goes.

Re: Joe Mazzulla Thread – Celtics Interim Head Coach (2022-23)
it's no secret that racial demographics played a big role in Ime's hire. Nothing wrong with that -- it seemed to help the team 'buy in' versus what they'd done with Brad ('tune out'). I'd assume the same dynamics are at play with Ime's successor -- it sounds like they considered Mazzulla and (maybe) Stoudemire -- and names like Snyder, Vogel, Brad himself, or fossils like Larry Brown(!) and Coach K(!!) aren't going to move the needle.

I actually kinda like Snyder.
Good assessment:
