He will get his chance next season.

He's already played too much in the G-League.

I don't think the Cs will keep Springer because of his salary as a 1st round pick.

Svi will also look for greener pastures.

So that will give JD and Walsh an opportunity to be part of the regular team.

I wonder what Brissett and Kornet will do?
Tillman, I think we'll keep. Give him a decent contract.

Kornet will most likely stay with a new multi-year contract at a bargain price.

Brissett will most likely stay opting in with his player option.

You subtract Svi and Springer and add JD and Queta.

Cs will still have 1 roster spot open.

Brissett will pick up his players option, and I really think that Brad will get Tillman and Kornet resigned. It's not like we can sign FA's to replace them that can do the same job. Tatum/Horford/Tillman @PF, KP/Kornet/Queta @ C is a solid rotation.

KP/ Kornet/Queta
Tatum/Horford/Tillman
Brown/Hauser/Brissett
Holiday/
White/Pritchard/Davison

I don't expect Svi back and expect JD Davison to take his roster spot. I also think Springer is on a short leash, so we could move from Svi and Springer and since we have already signed Queta we may sign Davison too.

Springer is under contract for next season. We just traded assets for him. He'll likely be on the team next year.

Subtracting him to add JD is a downgrade - no reason to do that if we're trying to win.

It's not subtracting Springer to add JD.

I just don't think the Cs will pay Springer 1st rnd pick money when they need to extend White and Jrue.

The tax will be big for Springer next season.

So it's about money.

Every time he’s been paired with a rim runner he’s looked fantastic. Struggled last SL when we didn’t have a guy like Queta or Kabangele to spam pick and roll with. Fortunately for JD, the big club has quite a few guys that can fill this role

Not really seeing the logic there.

-White and Jrue's extensions wouldn't kick in until the 25-26 season, so that has essentially zero impact on Springer's contract for the 24-25 season.

-There really isn't much difference between Springer's $4 mil salary next season and a minimum salary - especially with the cap/salaries increasing each year.

-Springer is getting 1st round pick money because he *was* a 1st round pick. The Celtics knew that when they traded for him. There was plenty of quotes that came out after the trade (from Brad especially but also from Joe) about what they see in Springer, how much they value him, etc. It just wouldn't make much sense for them to get rid of him after he just got here

-Springer is under contract for next season, so it's pretty much a moot point. What are you suggesting we do? Dump him in a trade for a 2nd round pick? That would make no sense, considering we just traded a 2nd round pick to get him

Seems like the Celtics are pretty high on Springer. Seems like they think he can be a Gary Payton II/Avery Bradley type of guy, with a little bit of Marcus Smart in there - which he's already shown flashes of with Boston..and chances are we'll see more of that from him next season, as he gets more acclimated to the team with a full offseason and full training camp with the team and will be a little bit older and more developed than he is now (he's still only 21 yrs old).

-The team has made it clear that they are trying to win. The priority is winning championships, not trying to save a few bucks. $4 mil a year is basically nothing for an NBA player these days, anyways..

-Worst case scenario, he's used as salary matching in a trade at some point..and having that $4 mil salary allows us to get a slightly better player in return than if we had a $2 mil a year player in that roster spot. But if we do a trade like that, it's a strategic move to get a better player in return - it wouldn't be just dumping Springer, only to give that roster spot to JD (which makes the team worse but saves a few bucks - that wouldn't make sense for a team that is trying to win...unless Springer is really not developing or working out like we hoped he would - but that is likely not a conclusion we would come to until like end of training camp next season at the earliest)

Anyways, this is getting way off topic so I'll bow out of the conversation..

4m a year is fine if you don't have to pay tax for it.

JD or Springer will be the 14th or 13th man at best.

But JD will be cheaper if you add up the luxury tax the Celts will be paying in 2024-25.

200?

Portland Expo has a Capacity of 9,000.
They need a bigger building for this.

I don’t know about 9k. maybe with standing room for other events, but not with a court. I think attendance in the ECF was between 1200-2000 and it was a sardine can.

For selfish reasons (I live closer) I wish they’d move to the cross arena. The Celtics played a preseason game there back in 2013 or 14 maybe. Which, also selfishly, they’re overdue for another.

He is already under contract. They are paying him and the associated regardless.

They could possibly trade him for a 2RP I suppose.

Maine looking flat so far. Brad should've sent them Kornet and PP for this one game to help them close it out.

Return to Boston Celtics
