[Interrupt the earlier celebration of the back-to-back beatdown of the Celts with an Edit, after sweeping Eddie's nemesis, the N'awlins Hawnets].
See now here's the thing. I know Wiz fans have been burned for so long so many times that even when we're winning we spend alot of our time waiting for the other shoe to drop.
And when we're doing poorly we get the litany of suck from folks who love to complain. Look, I get it, in order to be a long-term fan of a losing team you either got to be an incurable optimist, and addict of hope, a sucker for underdogs, an incurable homer. Or you just got to like to complain alot. And staring disaster square in the face gives you an opportunity to say: See I knew it all along, life was planning on disappointing me from the jump. We will never win unless... [insert half-baked idea here]. If I ran the Universe things would be better, but since I don't I can only predict doom and despair and stop just short of wishing that it happens. Or not stop.
Andwe sorta seem to collect a ton of those latter kind of fans. Nothing wrong with that, except it gets kinda quiet on these boards after a win. Like people are scared to get happy because our old neighbor doom and destruction will probably buy the house next door and sending his dog over to crap on the lawn again.
But know what? How fun is that. There's a place for skepticism and emotional reserve, there's a place for venting frustration, there's a place for the insulation of pessimism. But sometimes you know you just gotta get happy for a second and enjoy a good thing while you got it going on. Find a safe place to imagine something good is gonna happen. Like justification for that secret little faith you have that somehow it will all turn out alright, despite the world and it's bad intentions.
I offer this thread as that place. Even to skeptics and pessimists. Imagine for a second that a win is a good thing. That despite the world's problems we can fix some of them, turn some of them around, catch a grin every now and again, and find a free minute to take a deep breath when things turn out okay against all odds.
And some day, maybe soon, the Wizards for instance will be the champs again. Or you'll get off your butt and write that story, land a windfall of success, show your boss you deserve that promotion, buy a great house with no mold in the basement, ask the girl out and fall in love or whatever Accidentally luck out, put in a little hard work and see it pay off.
Now I'm not saying that's true or likely or any of that. I'm just saying, for the purposes of this thread, you can pretend like it is.
Like imagine: The Wiz just beat the team with the 2nd best road record in the league this year. We gave them their first defeat against an Eastern Conference team. We finally beat a team that we've been snakebit agaisnt, and avenged DWests' last second 3-point dagger with one of our own, then followed that up with a shtstomping at home, against a team that had just beat PHX and the Jazz and had a full day of rest, and were talking about getting 'revenge' on the Wiz. We beat 'em fair, they played well, cut the lead to 1 pt, and we turned it up a notch. All, once again, without our two best players. Oh yeah, and a crappy coach of course.
You know, for the purposes of this thread. I'm gonna pretend that's a good thing.
