If Cassell were to be Bought Out: C's or Cavs?
It is being reported that Sam Cassell and the Clippers have an agreement on a buyout.
For weeks it has been rumored that he would goto the Celts...but there may be a hitch.
The Cavaliers still have their MLE and LeBron has openly stated that he wanted him. To make things more complicated, the Cavs are saying that he can start for them...which may interest Sam so he can get a new contract.
It's looking like it's 50-50 right now, we'll see who gets him.

Have you seen how this team plays without Rondo? Rondo still will play 30-35 minutes per game, so the only thing that is left is 13-18 minutes. Cassell would be nice for those, but if he can start for the Cavs, he might do it.

If the Cavs have the full exception left that would mean they could offer Sam I Am something in the area of 1.5-1.9 mil for the rest of the year. While certainly a factor I would imagine that role would have even more to do with it.
Sam is half the player Rondo is at this point so if we are going nowhere with Rondo were are we going with a 40 year old Cassell?

Are you in Europe or drinking because it is snowing out
(old college tradition). Dennis Johnson retired at 35.
Rondo just destroyed Sam Cassell head to head and what part of his game is inconsistent. Sam is coming to back him up if at all, maybe play in a 2 point guard line up some. But make no mistake you are overestimating Sam way more than you underestimated Dennis Johnson.

I'd actually be in favor of Rondo coming off the bench. He can create for himself and the offense with the bench more than with the Big 3. We would be MUCH better with Sam as the starter since he has been in the playoffs a dozen times and won a couple rings. Rondo is much more effective as the flour general, I can see him as our franchise player in 5-6 years since he has to dominate the ball and run the offense to be effective. I read here a couple days ago that it's because KG and Rondo have the same need of things running through them offensively to be effective, I agree with that. Since Rondo took big strides with KG out of the lineup I think our team would be nasty if they were split up after going 34-9 together.

Did you happen to catch the Celtics/Clipper game? Sam is a 15-20 minute a game player right now. Rondo is a better starter and should continue to start. The big question is the end of the game with 3 minutes left, that's were Cassell value is at the end of the game.
