Gerald Green released by Houston

Somebody will pick this guy up, at least for minimum salary. He always seemed to have an extraordinarily poor BBIQ, but man, flat out cut by his team already?

I probably have a bit of a soft spot for him and wish we had an extra spot for a developmental guy. Oh well. I wish him well.

Wow, Green was so ecstatic when he was traded to his hometown team... :(

Somewhere, somehow, a banned RealGMer is happy.

Unbelievable. I hope the kid took care of his money. This will probably really hurt his already floundering confidence. Do you think he ends up in Europe?

A guy with his talent, low cost, and short contract doesn't get cut unless he has a cancerous attitude. I find it ironically sweet.

I am not surprised. I don˙t know if I have ever seen a player who is so clueless on the court. He just doesn`t have the BBIQ to play basketball at this level.

He got cut to make room for Mike Harris, and he was only signed because Carl Landry got injured. An injury to a different player got Gerald Green waived... must have a great attitude.

Shocker where are you! Your boy needs you now.

Somewhere there are about 8 posters over the past 2 years in tears and already have illusions of Scal/Pollard cut for Green dreams.

i wouldn't mind cutting pollard and resigning gerald. after all scot isn't going to play anyway, and he's going to get his money. the owners just have to think whether gerald is worth the lux tax. but it would be for the prorated min, so it's not much cash.

if he can't learn behind pierce and ray, then he has no shot. but he's got some skills, it's not like he's useless.

Do you remember who Gerald Green is? The word useless is the only word that comes to my mind with him.

Geez, Houston was undefeated with Green not playing. I bet they can't keep that up with him unavailable to not play.

He'll be back in Houston at the end of the 10 day contract, as said in the article, it was a move for the right now due to injury, and it was already clear that Gerald wasn't in Houston's "right now" plans. I'd put large sums of money on Gerald being back on the Rockets.

All and All it is rather bizzare to trade for a prospect you KNOW will take at least a few weeks to get aclamated to the team, city, and sytem, and then cut the guy loose....however, they are in a midst of a winning streak WITHOUT their Allstar center, so I take it they know what's best.

Well if this isn't a wake up call I don't know what is. Might be too late though ...

Razz on me all you want, but I'd bring him back in a heart beat (for a minimal contract). Can he go to the D-League next year? I'm unfamiliar with the rules regarding eligibility. I'm not sure how you can label a kid a bust when he has just hit what would be his junior year in college. He hasn't been encouraging, that is for sure, but you can't teach the hops and speed Gerald has. You can't knock his effort either, he was every where on the court, just none of the spots he was in were right. Basketball you can teach, whether or not he is capable of learning is a question, but talk about low risk/high reward if things ever did click. I also think Boston would be an ideal learning environment with the overall class/experience/IQ of this basketball team. Like I said, razz away, I won't even argue back because he has provided plenty of evidence that he should be stuffing shopping bags somewhere, hopefully someday it'll turn around for him.

He can't resign with Houston for 30 days.

Remember the select few of you who tried to convince the world that Gerald Green was really good while the rest of the world argued otherwise?

Well, the rest of the world was right.

This is terrible. I have a lit cupcake ten feet off the ground and now there's no one to blow out the candle.

I don't know what to do.
