You could say the same thing about game 2. The Lakers were right there in the last minute.

You guys are ridiculous with the whining about the C's not getting calls in game 3. They got tons of ridiculous calls. how about PJ's foul on Gasol. He CLEARLY had his arms tied up and they called nothing.
The C's still got a ton of calls just no where near as many as they got in game 2. Game 3 was much more fair and Boston was just outplayed by Sasha and Kobe.
Game 2 was fair. No drives = no FTs. Please give me some examples of bad calls in that game, in favor of Boston. I've watched in three times now, and I've seen a couple calls but nothing to the tune of the FT discrepancy. It's called "lack of defense," not bias. If you leave Powe open 10 times under the hoop when you double off of him, obviously he's going to shoot free throws. That's different than touch fouls called one way and not the other.

There were a few bad calls is all I said. I didn't say what happened changed the game as the Celtics still hung in there and had a chance to win if not for missing a bunch of open shots, and Rivers inexplicably benching a red hot Ray Allen. It was just frustrating to see Boston take it to the hoop with no calls a couple times, and then someone breathes on Kobe's arm and he's at the line. Boston did settle too much for jumpers, but the calls weren't consistent. One that comes to mind was Pierce's charge. Farmar slid in front of him as he was dribbling to his left and it was a called a charge.
That was a charge. Farmar flopped as well but really it was no different than the charge Powe drew on Odom a few plays before.
Then two possessions or so later Fish lowered his shoulder and leveled House and it was called a block. There were also a few obvious shooting fouls that were given side out instead of FTs.
Fish got away with one there. Charge/block calls are the hardest ones IMO. 75% of them could go either way or be no calls.
Anyhow, I'm sorry you're still bitter from the "bull" game two apparently, where the Lakers didn't drive at all and didn't get any FTs. Try to not let that taint your perception of the rest of the series though. I even went so far as to re-watch the game with a few friends who are huge Lakers fans, and after the initial bitching they admitted LA didn't deserve FT attempts because they settled too much outside. Much the same I'd say Boston stopped attacking the rim as much tonight and didn't deserve too many free throws, but did catch a few bad calls. Mainly hand checks called on them, but not on LA. That's called home court advantage sir and I'll live with it. The refs were far from atrocious, but I have seen better
That's bull. The Lakers aren't body checking the way the Celts do. The Lakers tend to reach more. Posey got away with a massive shoulder check on Kobe and even the commentators were sayign it during the replays.
In game 2 Odom and Gasol deserved tons of free-throws. You cna't make the case that neither of them were taking it inside. I don't know who you werre watching the game with but if they didn't see that they were blind.

Check out the bs call on Turiafs block on Powe at about 45 seconds. then watch KG's on Gasol shot at 1 minute. You can plainly see KG using his left hand on Gasol in the second replay. He also hit the arm on the followthrough... he fouled Gasol TWICE.
Ray's body check on Kobe at 2:28 or so.
AN ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS ARM GRAB BY PIERCE AT 2:40.
I could go on and on with more game footage... especially some of the crazy stuff they let happen to Odom.

So ... boston played poorly on the road? are you surprised? i'm not. they've been doing that since the playoffs started. it seems that pro celtics fans have taken the stance that because the game was close on the road and their stars didn't show they have an even greater chance of winning this series. correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't game 1 close near the end? 5 or 6 points i think. the lakers, and in particular kobe, didn't play well yet still had thier chances. as a lakers fan i too thought this meant that we had a good chance to win the next game. but each game is different and what you can't predict is who will play well. leon powe for instance? odom has been a no show so far but gasol has been pretty steady. i expect that the lakers will play thier best game of the series on thursday. the taste of victory will bring it on. now that kobe is not settling and instead is applying pressure look for the other lakers to pick it up. the combo of ariza and bryant should keep pierce in check at staples and gasol won't shoot 3-9 again. let's face it, momentum has shifted. the celtics will probably play better. however, so will the lakers. can you say 2-2?

Even though the Celtics front court has clearly dominated the Lakers' (which I predicted to happen before the series stared) I think a lot of people are missing the fact that with a few plays, ball bounces, calls, etc. that this series could easily be 3 - 0 for either team. They have all been close down the stretch.
Even Boston's 24 point lead in game 2 was just barely enough - so from what I have seen Boston has had the edge in how hard they have played but the Lakers have yet to play well and have had the chance to win every game as much as Boston could have snatched game 3.
All in all though I will say this - Boston's defense is no joke and a big reason why the Lakers have not played well. They really are an impressive defensive team. But neither team has shown a reason for their fans to be too cocky for any reason.

for the love of the game!
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

so you guys are allowed generalizing the entire Jazz fanbase, but I'm not allowed making a comment about AN ENTIRE GROUP of Laker fans jumping an innocent Celtics fan..while other fans in the arena laugh at it..I'm pretty sure that's a large amount of the people in the arena either involved/watching and laughing..so it's a fair assumption..
don't blame me, blame Kobe..he's supposed to be the role model..it just really angers me that a group of people AT A BASKETBALL GAME, would jump an innocent guy, just because his team is leading the series..disgusting..LA needs more celebs at the game..
