Top need was an athletic wing. The atlanta series showed how we can be exposed. NO TA, that left Ray Allen, Paul PIerce and James Posey on the wing. That is 3 guys over the age of30 and not exactly in their athletic primes.

It's a good pick in that sense. We need a defender and future scorer at this spot. A big? Not going to be a factor.

After reading the draft express write up, it seems like a DA pick.

There's always something a bit wrong that gets other GMs to avoid the risk. Rondo couldn't shoot. Powe had knee issues. Baby was too fat. Gomes was not long enough to be an NBA power forward.

This guy has off court issues that have undermined his reputation. He's been stabbed in a night club. Wasn't Pierce stabbed in a niht club? He has team chenistry issues. Didn't Pierce have some issues with adjusting to a team. I know Bird did.

The kid has the size and apparently the talent. Maybe the Celtics can turn his attitude to the good side. It is a typical DA gamble. High payoff, low risk.

He is like tony allen but not as good at D, makes poor decions better rebounder then his size would suggest, great dunker, lacks in the head. Never was a big fan of him at KU

After reading a bit, I remember this kid when he played at Kansas and from High School.. those years ago, I liked him.. but he fell off my radar when he left Kansas. He was a great talent in High School.

I think it's a *shrug* .. trust Danny, and we'll see.

We may be looking at doing a sign and trade with Tony, add somebody like Powe, Baby, or Scal and get a nice player in return.

If Ainge wants him. we should be happy. Walker = Gerald Green. CDR = Julius Hodge

Doc just said he's very athletic, has a huge wingspan, and they drafted him with the expectation that he'll compete for minutes this coming season.

Giddens has the athleticism to be a great defender and the length. IMO, he was at worst a good defender in his senior year, especially at the tail end.

And if you need to know, I'm a gambling degenerate, thats why I'm familiar with Giddens.

Well after seeing his youtube highlights, maybe we'll have a dunk contest entrant next year at the very least.

I guess anyone you draft at 30 is going to have question marks. If it was attitude issues that have dissipated with time, sounds like a good roleplayer. Good defense, the 9 boards from a shooting guard is a special skill, and rebounding tends to transfer well between levels of play.

Rondo/Pruitt
Allen/Giddens
Pierce/Posey
Garnett/Powe/Scal
Perkins/Davis

He's like a bigger version of Rondo, except a lesser defender. He fills up the stat sheet and like RR he's a great rebounder.

Well maybe he turns out to be a josh howard type, no outside shot coming out, good rebounder. I hope my instincts are wrong.

Awesome pick!

He might be one of those "Holy **** why didnt we think of that" Picks if he can stay positive and not get into slobber knockers.

Those numbers suggest a really well rounded player. I think he was POY in his conference too. That's greating rebounding at the guard position.

And did I mention he can throw it down? Check this.

He went to KU to play for Williams. Self came in and he got stabbed. He transfered and the coach at UNM tried to make him the next Danny Granger and then scape goated the kid when it fell apart. Coach fired Alford in and turned him into an NBA player.

Doc was the one who said that Danny has liked him for a long time and he can really defend.

That's the youtube clip you need to watch if you wanted Walker instead of Giddens.

I'll admit, I wanted and thought Walker was going to be the pick, but this kid is equal to him athletically, and is older and less of a project. I think he can be a good player for us next year. Just because he isn't the guy everyone expected doesn't mean he won't be good. I think he has the ability to be a good player in this league.

I don't know a lot about him so I can't say much. It would have been interesting to see what Jordan could have done in Boston, but oh well.

Big deal. We've seen Kedrick Brown and Gerald Green do that, and now they're cleaning pools.

I understand dunking isnt everything but the best thing people saw in Walker was his athletic ability. Giddens is equal. He does everything else similar, is a better defender, and a more experienced player. I didn't mean to say that because he can dunk he was a good pick, even though it came across like that.
