Kinda has the Kevin McHale look in that first pic, Banks2Pierce--must be a good omen!

Well, this seems like a replacement for Pollard, not PJ. We still need a legit backup C.

I think Danny is just taking advantage of an opportunity to pick up a kid who could develop into something nice... for a song. Not much downside to the move at all. Kid's only 22 and has played all of 200 minutes. For all intents and purposes, we just picked up a rookie.

Nice to have the focus off Posey for a couple of hours, at the very least :)

Same here but Patty O has more upside, especially with Clifford Ray working with him

Can't say I was hoping for O'Bryant. But hopefully he can get his act together and help this team off the bench.

This doesn't excite me at all. I thought he was a bust before he was drafted, and he's been even worse than I expected so far.

Besides, Green Giant, look for O'Bryant in upcoming ads for the following...

Keebler's Fudge Shoppe Mint Creme Filled Cookies and Keebler's Fudge Shoppe Grasshopper Cookies

Turkey Hill's Skinny Minty Ice Cream

Lipton's Green Tea Bags and Lipton's Green Tea with Citrus Bottled Ice Tea

More likely to come.

I'll guess that O'Bryant will do a commercial for Dunkin' Donuts around St. Patrick's Day locally.

...this kid showed almost no competitive fire or motivation to improve through 2 seasons...one can only hope that this was due to knowing he was to be buried on the bench...personally, I don't think much of him at all, but he can block shots and he is mobile..if he can learn the defensive rotations and TRY on that end, he will be a decent backup center...

...but the kid has the talent to be better than Tyson Chandler, the fact that he got cut after 2 seasons is very disturbing...

Apparently he likes to cook and therefore was dubbed Patty Cupcakes. I like having a long term project 7 footer in the D-league. Another of those things to talk about during the long summers. This is better use of the 15th roster spot than Pollard. We still need a backup center.

Apparently it's a 1 year deal for the minimum with a team option for the 2nd year. That's pretty good...low risk with some upside. I remember reading an article where Doc was talking about each of his assistant coaches and of Clifford he said that he makes players who don't work hard work hard and those who do work harder. If Clifford can motivate O'Bryant to work hard then he might turn into something.

The Warriors deemed him to be too lackadasical on the court and that he didn't show enough passion or fire. Where have I heard that one before.....

I may be in the minority but I actually love this signing. Everyone claims motivation issues, which may well be true, but his production rates are actually quite good in limited sample size.

So we can't quite say that "Robert Parrish is walking through that door" but maybe we get lucky.

I'm with you. When he got time he seemed pretty good. Unfortunately for him, he got in Nellie's doghouse and couldn't escape.

I like these kinds of signings, if he doesn't work out we cut him and if he does work out we get a steal. What's the problem?

LOL.

I'm having a simpler, similar, and not entirely logical reaction -- the Celts did OK with a cast-off GS center in the past.

Parish had some great seasons with GS. Let's not get carried away with the 'cast off" stuff. Patrick O'Bryant is a long shot project.

With Patrick O'Bryant, it's cross your fingers and hope he "gets" it.

O'Bryant has the physical abilities to be a starter. What has always worried people, and seems to still be the problem, is his "heart." Will he put in the work, the practice to, develop his skills? Does he have the grit, the will to compete, that is required to be a good basketball player at the NBA level? How much does he want to win? Heck, does he even really *want* to play?
