I'm ready to roll on that lineup.

I suggested something very similar, but it had many issues.

Still, nothing that I have heard out of Philly (where I live) has been positive about the negotiations w/ Iggy. I also think they would be loathe to get rid of A. Miller as he is reallllly good on that team and, as you pointed out, is an expiring.

I think that the salaries are all messed up in that deal, b/c both Deng and AI2 would be BYC. Makes it very hard for the ingoing and outgoing salaries to match.

No way is memphis dumb enough to trade gay for deng. Then again they did draft conley and do that stupid love trade...
Maybe if we take an ugly contract from them and offer a pick... God, how sick would it be if gay was a bull, and even sicker if they could get joe johnson in 2010, can you imagine..

Might get blasted for this, but assuming Deng isn't coming back, I'd do this trade w/ Houston...

Bulls Trade:
Deng (S&T @ 12.5 mil)
Nocioni
Hinrich
Sefolosha

Bulls Receive:
McGrady
Battier

That leaves the Bulls w/ a lineup of

Rose/McGrady/Gordon
McGrady/Gordon/Hughes
Battier/Thomas
Gooden/Thomas
Noah/Gooden/Gray

I know people are high on Sefolosha, but with McGrady we'd have a backcourt rotation of Rose/McGrady/Gordon w/ Hughes as insurance. Battier would be an upgrade defensively over Deng (imo) and at posting up, he's also a decent shooter. This also leaves plenty of minutes for Thomas/Noah.

And most importantly, the Bulls will have a ton of cap space come 2010.

Why the Rockets might do this? Deng and Hinrich are both upgrades for the Rockets, I could see both fitting in well w/ a Rockets offense that would then revolve around Yao. Deng is a great slasher and both Deng/Hinrich are good at spot up jumpers. Nocioni makes an ideal sixth man and I could see the Rockets using Sefolosha extensively as a defensive stopper in the West.

If Iguodala would take 5/60 then he'd already be signed.

The Rockets are not trading McGrady though.

I like Deng but I'm not sure the Rockets would have enough pieces outside of our two stars to aquire him.

I've made the same mistake before. The two BYC deals won't cancel each other out and you will need more salary to make the deal work.

Chicago Outgoing: $17.8M (Deng's salary is 50%, so $6M).
Chicago Incoming: $23.63M

Not to bring up a old thread, but i just wanted a quick schoolin on the cap.

1. I thought the salaries need to be just 75% of incoming. So 25% of 23.63 is 17.72 and Chicago were getting rid of 17.8. So please give me the lesson on this.

2. How does the BYC work? Do you take half of the first year of the contract or is half of the average annual salary of contract?

1. I believe it's 125%-- the team can't take back more than 125% of the salary that it traded away.

125% of 17.8 million is 22.25, and that trade has Chicago taking back more than that.

2.

Theres no excuse why Pax shouldnt be targeting Iguodala. He has talked about getting a younger, tall SG who can score. Deng is requiring too much money for a SF who I don't see becoming a first option or consistent second option and BG also will be overpaid, undersized and not worth adding another guard to our roster. Why not use their money on our SG for Rose; Iggy!

Rudy, Martell, Raef, Future 1st
For
Deng
Does that work for both sides? I'm not a big Rudy homer and think he will want bigger minutes than he is going to get in PDX. It also slims Portland' roster down to a nice 9 man rotation. It would not be wise for Portland to just sign him in 09, because we'd have way too much talent and not enough room.

it certainly doesnt work for the bulls. and i suspect with the portland boards obsession with fernandez, they wouldnt trade him for lebron...

I'm down for a Deng+Hinrich to LAL deal for Odom+Farmar.

Gives us immediate cap relief, especially once Hughes is off the books for the wild summer of 2010.

Sure the rest of the NBA will never forgive us, but if we're able to sign LeBron in 2010, who cares?

How about Odom, Farmar, and Ariza for Deng and Gooden? I'd gladly take Hinrich instead of Gooden, but I don't think Chicago really does that. I think they'd rather try to move him on his own if they're going to.

Deng and Hinrich>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>> >>>Farmar Odom

and no we will not ever get Lebron if he leaves Cleveland he will be going to new york or the nets

Ugh

I am far from anti-trade. I think Deng and BG have potentially painted themselves into a corner (play hardball with Jerry? Bad idea) but most of the deals we can come up with that work are very yucky.

The above particularly. I don't want any of those players.

DESPITE it's complexity, I think our best bet is to somehow land another disgruntled RFA in a 3-way trade somehow. I still like the idea of targeting Iggy. At least I could see him being productive rather than just a body to make the salaries work.

Macherie, I'm well aware that Deng+Hinrich >>> Odom+Farmar in terms of productive talent. This is a business deal. We'd be dumping both Odom & Farmar after one season.

The whole idea behind my trade proposal was to unload salary since nobody on the current FA market is going to drastically improve our chances.

http://www.realgm.com/src_freeagents/2010/

There is a crapton of talent outside of LeBron available for 2010. Even if we dont get LBJ persay, there will be much better impact players available on the market than the current crop of RFAs and FAs. If we're going to be in a semi-rebuilding mode with Rose and Tyrus learning the ropes, why not create capspace and sit on it for the right summer to spend? Why overpay for average/above average talent now and handcuff ourselves for the proper summer to be spending?

That would be one way to get Portland sitting at the trade table with ears perked up. No way KP would let Deng/Hinrich land on the LAL's for just Odom/Farmar. If something ridiculous like that was to be proposed seriously, Portland would have to take on Hughes to get Deng and sweeten the deal a little from their side. But no way JR proposes that deal to the Lakers. Heck, Portland could offer Raefs expiring and better talent than Farmar.

Portland pretty much has to take Hughes to get enough salary to make the deal work with Deng's BYC.

Lakers went to the finals this past season W/O Bynum. So keeping that fact in mind....how about something like, Hinrich, Deng, & Noah for Odom and Bynum? Could that work $ wise? And if that's not enough, take one of their bad contracts for Gooden (then we dump Noc after).

Rose
Gordon
Odom
Ty
Bynum

for Lakers...

Hinrich
Bryant
Deng
Gooden/Noah
Gasol
