That is not the case at all when you pair it with a player option and/or ETO
Biedrins got a flat contract AND a player option. As I explained, that is not a good thing for the Warriors, it is a good thing for Biedrins.
It allows him to take more of the total contract value before becoming a free agent again if he is at all worth that kind of money. With a standard escalating contract, a player who chooses not to exercise his player option is missing out on a larger percentage of their total contract value by making that decision.
