McGee and Young ticketed for reckless driving

Post#1 » by fishercob » Tue Feb 3, 2009 4:21 pm

http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0209/591167.html

According to Airports Authority Police, vehicles driven by center Javale McGee and guard Nick Young were pulled over January 1 along the access road that leads to Dulles International Airport.

Authorities won't say how fast the players were going, but it was apparently fast enough to warrant reckless driving charges. Under Virginia law, you can be charged with reckless driving for going more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit, for driving more than 80 miles an hour, for racing, or for driving in a manner that endangers life, limb or property.

anyone care to find a way to blame this on Jamison, Butler, Tapscott or possibly Abe? Or might the kids be responsible for their own actions in this unique circumstance? Thankfully no one was hurt by this stupidity. Hopefully Mama McGee whoops Nick's ass in addition to Javale's.

Maybe they wouldn't have had the energy to race if they'd played more minutes.

Actually, that's a pretty good point. I think McGee was the one driving. He got three straight DNP's from the 4th onwards. I am absolutely shocked that Blatche was nowhere in the vicinity.

That road has a long and storied history of people going out and seeing how
fast they can go.

In my car or pickup, I drive slow, like the old fart I am. On my cycle,
I'm often at risk of the 20 over the limit reckless ticket. (I refuse
to grow up).

so to me, this is no big deal.

The access road to the airport

I've been ticketed with reckless driving on there. Later it was dropped down to a normal speeding ticket. It's hard to keep track of your speed on that road because of how empty it is most of the time, especially night time if you are trying to avoid paying the toll on 267

I think they were rushing to get to one of Blatche's parties.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the speed limit on the access road like 50-55 miles per hour?

As all right thinking Americans should do.

Last night I made a major exception and took the toll road since I was in
Herndon at 5:45 and needed to get to the game. Normally the toll road
is a non-road for me, like people in the old SovUnion could become nonpeople.

I'm afraid you just pushed one of my buttons.

The followers of pol discussions here might be shocked to hear that
I voted for Herrity (GOP) in the special for FFX co ChmnBOS this morning.
And the reason was the Sharon Bulova is so stupid that she thinks
rail to Dulles (at it's current price) is the answer to anything.
Bulova's direct mail fliers completely backfired in my case.

maybe McGee was trying to overcompensate for his lack of lateral acceleration on the basketball court by increasing his forward acceleration on the toll road...

Momma's gonna whip his @ss... but c'mon, instigating those of us who think he hasn't been handled well by EJ or Tap is a bit of a stretch.

There are ALWAYS cops on that road...always!

Who hasn't been cited for reckless driving in VA?

two middle fingers to VA and their speeding laws and the fact it's illegal to have a radar detector

Bravo Donk

There freq ARE cops/speedtraps on that road.

Showing my age here. it was back in the 70s when Dulles was much
less busy, that my teenage peers used to check out the top end
on their hotrods on the access road. It was patrolled considerably
less at that time.

exactly. i know countless people who've received reckless driving tickets and turned out juuuuust fine. this is a non-story.

...that is unless they were straight racing like Bobby Phills, but until it's anything more than going 80 in a 55, let it rest.

Yupppp.

I just got cited for it this weekend by a state trooper. So I'll join you and send four middle fingers to those herbs.

If I'm not mitaken, the Dulles toll road is one of the most ticketed roads in the United States. I think I saw that on the news once before.

There's years of overwhelming evidence to suggest this will get thrown out.

Officer: I clocked you two passing me at 82 mph.
Nick: That's impossible!
Officer: Huh?
Javale: He don't pass.

Case closed.
